Francois - Coro tried to give their costume jewelry a "French" touch and Francois was chosen as the name for their higher end jewelry. The line was introduced in 1933. But the line only lasted until 1944 when it was replaced by Vendome as Coro's Couturier division.

Francois was one of the new designers at Coro in 1938.

A vintage modernist silver necklace with a large central pendant by the master sculptor and artist from Ecuador, Oswaldo Guayasamin. The central pendant measures 2 3/4" long and 3/4" wide. Also measures 3/4" deep. The pendant has a textured front surface and polished sides and back. The pendant has an additional silver squiggle with what looks like onyx beads suspended in front of the textured surface. It moves independently.

An elegant pair of 18K yellow gold earclips by Haroldo Burle Marx set with intricately carved jelly opals in the “forma livre” (free form) style. Burle Marx was particularly known for his use of stones fashioned by carving or tumbling rather than faceting, a technique he invented in 1948. A contemporary of Matilde Poulat's, maestro M. Velazquez also worked in Mexico City and created jewelry primarily in the repousse style associated with the capital and Matl, its most famous practitioner. Velazquez was a true master of his art - his jewelry is bold and his repoussage confident, sculptural and nicely finished. Glittering fabulous vintage rope necklace with dozens of brilliant colorless stones set in oblong and round filigree beads linked by wires. Marked CHRISTIAN DIOR on an attached metal hang tag. The metal is silvertone. 1960s, from a Philadelphia estate. With a hook catch and a ring with a tassel with three round jeweled beads. This could also be worn as a belt.

A rare pair of sterling silver bean-back cufflinks, the faces with very detailed images of a Native American in profile. The Indian's long hair is woven with feathers and the edges of the cufflinks are decorated with stalks of corn. These latter details are very much in the Art Nouveau taste. Vintage Art Deco impossible to find Leach & Miller of Attleboro MA with the L&M mark, let alone in this gorgeous Bermuda ocean color and in all original condition! They made high quality sterling with the look of fine jewelry and ceased to exist in the early 30's.

An Arts and Crafts period pendant in 830 silver with 8 bezel set round garnets, 2 teardrop shaped garnets and a central pearl. Also has a bezel set pearl in the bottom dangle.

Marked 830 for the silver standard and what looks like conjoined 'AG' or 'GA'. Has a swivel bale.

Pendant measures almost 1 3/4" high with the bale and 1 3/8" at the widest. The silver colored chain measures 23" long and has a spring clasp that closes securely. Not sure of the silver content of the chain.

Circa mid-century, here is a Margot de Taxco zodiac pendant bracelet with Taurus the Bull. It's her design #s 5310 and 5233, and it's collector quality. It's a heavy, chunky, absolutely beautiful bracelet and one which shows up beautifully on the wrist. Closed wearable length is 6 5/8". This is one of our very favorite lavaliers! It is quintessential Art Nouveau. It depicts a flower with an amethyst at its center, with the classic whiplash motif. The central amethyst weighs approximately 1/2 carat, and it’s accented by 28 seed pearls. Feng Shui practitioners believe amethysts aid in purification, and give access to a higher plane of energy.
