Wonderful post modern hand made sterling and gold ring by Novak, c. 1970's. Of very large dimension, the design shows a soaring bird with a gold head flying high above the band. The gold is directly soldered to the silver. The wing span measures 1 7/8" wide and stands 1" above the band and is size 8 1/4. Beautiful 14k gold and diamond tree brooch, c.1960's. This piece has a lovely modernist/art nouveau design showing a tree blowing in the wind and is set with 7 small diamonds in the branches. It was made using the lost wax process and has a very bright gold color. Tested for at least 14k, but is not marked. Made of heavy gauge gold, and weighs 20 grams. It is large, measuring 3 1/2" long. Very rare brass and enamel pin signed "MACCHIARINI", c.1940's. Peter Macchiarini(deceased) was a very famous San Francisco modernist jewelry designer and his works are extremely desirable. The provenance of this piece has been identified by his son, Dan Macchiarini. He states that it was a private commission by someone wanting a clown face. This turned out to be a joint venture between Peter and his then student, Virginia De Haas, whom he later married...

Very delicate 10K yellow gold pin set with a collet-set square-cut synthetic ruby. The linear design and the geometric shape of the stone show the beginnings of Art Deco influence. Similarly, the use of a synthetic stone is common in jewelry of the period. Even makers such as Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpel used synthetics. Marked "10K".
