Rowland Langmaid, British, 1897-1956, "Westminster". This is an atmospheric original etching by British Marine artist and Lieutenant-Commander of the Royal Navy Rowland Langmaid. Etching with drypoint, image size 5 5/8 x 8 inches, c. 1930, pencil signed and titled. A beautiful image of the silhouette of Westminster Abbey rising above the busy Thames River.

For the collector of modern and mid century art, here is an interesting work from the year 1947. The highly modern painting of a green apple, blue pitcher and red and white diamond patterned cloth in a rather two dimensional and "airless" space is obviously the work of an accomplished artist. It is painted in oil on canvas, (unframed), the measurements being 32" by 11", and the artist, HENRI WORMSER (1909-) signed it at lower right in capital letters...

An outright rare monotype print work by a Northern California artist, works of whom rarely appear on the art market, JOHN ALOYSIUS STANTON (1857-1929). He signed it in pencil at lower left and dated it there 1904. The subject is a beached small wooden boat attended by several figures, as the sun sets...

Gertrude Partington Albright, 1874-1959, American, "Young Lady in Fur Stole and Hat", Drypoint etching with hand coloring (lips), image size 19 3/4 x 12 inches, 1907, pencil signed lower right.

Florine Hyer was an Iowa-born artist who became known for her exquisite paintings of roses. She was in Los Angeles by 1898, and remained there her entire life with the exception of the year 1908, when she assisted the botanist Luther Burbank at his home and gardens in Santa Rosa, in Sonoma County north of San Francisco. Burbank is reputed to have said, "Florine can paint roses better than gardens can grow them"...

The highly impressionistic American oil paintings of Anthony Thieme, noted Cape Ann, Massachusetts artist, are among the most sought after works in today's auction scene, some bringing prices well into the mid five figures or higher. Those works are typically scenes of Rockport, Gloucester, Florida and far=flung locations such as Italy and Central America. It is rather less known that Thieme in his earlier years worked in creating stage designs...

Edgar Chahine This is an original etching by French artist Edgar Chahine. The title is: "Maree Basse,1930" A great depiction of a day at the beach. The image measures 8 5/8X12 1/2 inches. Pencil signed lower left border.printed on a medium weight wove type paper. Fine use of plate tone in the sky and water.

A French Poster that belonged to the actress Greer Garson. This was lent to the College of Santa Fe for exhibition when Garson appeared in the production of Madwoman of Chaillot. On the back Garson has written the information, shown in photo. Measures about 16 1/2" by 23 3/4", frame overall about 17 1/2" by 24 3/4". Appears to be attached to backing. Nice Art Nouveau Style and interesting provenance.

Burr's etchings and watercolors of the Great Southwest, especially Arizona and Colorado, are eagerly sought after by collectors...

A fine drawing (10 1/2" by 15 1/4" inside the present mat, 18" by 21 1/2" as framed (no glass) by the well listed Czech artist MAX SVABINSKY (1873-1962), featuring cloud formations and a sliver of land below. The artist signed at lower right and dated the work 1949. The medium appears to be charcoal or soft pencil on paper, with a bit of brown color included. A Svabinsky oil painting sold for over $300,000 at auction in the Czech Republic in 2016...

A nicely painted work of Boston-born still life painter CHARLES STORER (1817-1907), the subject red roses, painted on gray art board, measuring 10" by 14" (15 1/2" by 19 1/4" framed). The artist signed at center left edge and dated the painting 1901. This is an excellent example of still life work of the period in New England. Storer was born in Boston, He exhibited at the Boston Art Club and the National Academy. Most existing paintings appear to date to near the end of the artist's life...

Sir Francis Seymour Haden, British, 1818-1910, "The Towing Path". This is a rare early state etching by Sir Francis Seymour Haden, image size 5 3/8 x 8 3/8 inches, 1864, state VI/XIII, cat: Schneiderman-72, pencil signed. Sir Francis Seymour Haden was one of the most important British etchers of the 19th century, along with his brother in law James Whistler. In addition to being a highly regarded artist he was a successful surgeon, accomplished author and dedicated angler...

Australian aboriginal art eucalyptus bark painting (the art itself 28 1/2" by 20 1/2", the mounting panel 35" by 20"), by listed artist GEORGE ANARAGAYURA (1934-), the powerful image consisting of two parallel crocodiles, surrounded by small fish, some tiny humans, and, I think, several other creatures less easily identified...

Miller became known for his impressionistic paintings of Queens and points all over Long Island, including East Marion, near the end of the North Fork (Orient Point area). He traveled to Europe in the 1860's and, inspired by the sights and culture, decided to abandon the medical career for which he was preparing, in favor of art...
