A nicely limned portrait miniature painting on natural wafer. The sitter is a young gentleman with brown eyes and curly brown hair, attired in a black tie and jacket, white shirt, and yellow vest. The background is a pleasing bluish-gray. Set in a gilt metal case engraved on the reverse with "G.A.H." and the date 1836. The glazed aperture on the reverse contains a circlet of hair.

The sight size of the painting is 2 1/8" by 1 3/4"...

Jeanie Lea Southwick, American 1853-? was in Japan in 1915 for the coronation where she won a prize for her work. A well-drawn watercolor titled in the lower right, “At the Shoguns Tomb Shiba” (Shiba park is in Tokyo). Signed in the same place Jeanie Lea Southwick. Watercolor over traces of pencil and a little gouache for the blue of the sky in the distance. Sight size 8 7/8 by 6 ¾ inches. Frame 14 by 11 ¾ inches.

A superb enamel on copper portrait miniature by Jean Andre Rouquet. The sitter, dressed in an embroidered red jacket, ia a royal personage, evidenced by the ermine trimmed robe or cloak on his lap.

The condition of the miniature is excellent, with bright colors, no cracks, and no restoration. The duller areas along the edges are due to the way the light reflects off the curved edges.
