A rare painting by the well-listed Norwegian woman artist SIGRID LOUISE BOLLING (1853-1917), the subject a scenic fjord with towering peaks in the background, some with snow, hulking above man's humble houses on a rise at left. A colorful little original oil painting on canvas, not stretched but laid simply behind a hand-made paper mat then placed in a colorful decorative picture frame, no glass, 9" by 7" as framed, signed at left by artist and dated there 1996. No doubt a tourist art piece, it is quite charming, reminding of Haitian and other Caribbean folk art. Condition is excellent.

A well-executed old watercolor (and a little gouache) painting of roses, glass vases and a Chinese blue-white plate, circa 1930, signed by artist ADELAIDE STRIGNER. Strangely, despite the quality of the work, I have not located a name of a listed known artist that would correspond. The piece measures 11 1/2" by 20" inside the mat and 21 3/4" by 30 1/2" in its period frame, which has some chip losses especially at right. There is an inconsequential old cut in the paper at upper right field...

Hans Zatzka was born on 8 March 1859 in Vienna. His father Bartholomaüs was a construction worker, and his mother was Marie Karpischek Zatzka.[6] Between 1877 and 1882, he studied at the Academie des Beaux-Arts, under Christian Griepenkerl, Carl Wurzinger, and Karl von Blaas.Zatzka was able to earn a living through the production of frescoes for churches and other institutions. In 1885, Zatzka was commissioned to create the ceiling fresco The Naiad of Baden at Kurhaus Baden.

Browne was born in the sea-going town of Gloucester, which was later to evolve into a famous art colony that was noted for the impressionism that flourished there...

She is wearing a crown polos which is covered by a veil that drapes along the sides and behind her head. She also wears a necklace of many Amphora-shaped pendants, and her hair is dressed into curls and ringlets...

By the French Symbolist artist MAURICE DENIS (1870-1943), this is a remarque proof on Chine Volant paper, edition of 260, from the year 1939. The print, Cailler #169 in the definitive catalogue raisonne of Denis' prints, is from the "Five Poems" by Francis Thompson...

In superb extra clean/fresh condition, after a circa 1964 work by the famous Surrealist SALVADOR DALI (1904-1989) a print on silk "El Arbol de la Penitencia, Purgatory, Canto XXIV", 36" by 36" as mounted to a stretcher. Some say these are scarves; I am not certain so call it printed on silk or silk-like material. Somehow this has emerged without a smudge or pulled thread; I note only the vestiges of what may have originally been horizontal folds, at center as shown...
