Oil on canvas, 17" by 9" and thin original wood frame, signed lower left "M Stuart", depicting a young woman in greenish gray paint. This is more a work of figural art, really, than mere portrait. The sitter is unknown, as is the artist; there is a listing for a Mimi Stuart (1959-) but I am not convinced this is by that artist. Signature looks as if it could be by a British hand, judging from the style of writing. It is a professional signature, though, and this is not a work by an amateur...

Interesting gouache abstract painting in subtle grays and blues, signed on the reverse side of the Crescent art board "Jeannine Isaacs". The piece, measuring 9 3/4" square inside the mat opening, comes in an aluminum frame without glass. I do not see a recognized, listed artist by this name. The art probably dates to the 1970's I would suggest. Condition is excellent.

Watercolor and ink on paper laid on illustration board, 17 1/2" by 23", unframed, the subject a rural road with houses, low mountains in the background, signed at lower right by California watercolor artist RITCHIE ALLEN BENSON (1941-1996). This is a nicely executed work and it is in excellent, fresh condition with no foxing nor water staining. Benson was born in the Los Angeles area and died in Washington state, but there is limited biographical information on him...

Gouache on black paper, 11" by 17" (17 1/2" by 23 1/2" as framed), the subject a child-like angel in a nighttime winter landscape of fantasy, carrying a star staff, a doe like Bambi walking beside her. This was not easy to describe; best to just view the images! It is signed at lower right by artist HILDA GENTRY. I do not currently see a listing for this name, but do recall having seen something on the net about her at some time in the past...

Watercolor on paper painting of the famous belfry towers and facade of the St. Louis Cathedral on Jackson Square in New Orleans, Louisiana, possibly signed at lower right (illegible), 10 1/4" by 7 1/2" inside the mat, 16" by 10" framed, circa 1960's or 1970's I believe. The work is framed in an old, beveled dark oak quality frame that likely considerably pre-dates the art. When framed, someone wrote the title "St. Louis Cathedral, New Orleans" on the mat below the image...

The poetic scene includes one small structure at left; white and pink blossoms are starting to appear on the trees.. The work likely dates to the 1960's or early 1970's, judging from the present framing and materials used. Condition is excellent, the painting clean, with just a small amount of crazing...

This print is Haku Maki’s 78-6 水Water, number 108 in an edition of 151. Earlier that year,1978, he had already produced dramatic single-kanji large black and white prints. The first two, 78-1 Mountain and 78-2 Water, both horizontal prints, were 17in W x 9.25in H. They were followed soon after by 78-6, also horizontal. But this depiction of the kanji for water is nearly twice the size of the previous two: his 78-6 is 32.5 inches wide and 17 inches high (83cm W X 43.5cm H)...

Detailed Indonesian painting in the classic style from the island of Bali, Indonesia, painted in tempera on cotton canvas laid on board, measuring 21 1/4" by 17". The painting is unusually well executed compared to many from this "school" of painting; the artist was of above average talent, though he or she did not sign the work. Note the expressions on the faces, the intensity of the dragon, the spotted mysterious forest creature monster at lower left. Condition is excellent...
