Purchased some years ago in Florida, this is an unusual work, possibly some kind of enamel work (I am guessing----shiny hard surface with relief, mimicking enamel surfaces I have seen), 5" by 13", 21" by 25" in gold frame with wide maroon velvet matting, signed with conjoined small "HR" at top right, and signed again on reverse "Hugo Robus 1954"...

Oil on canvas, 18" by 22" (23 1/2" by 27 1/2" as framed), the subject the famous Paris opera house and the Cafe de la Paix at left, executed in the naive style of painters like Emile Blondel, Leon-Alphonse Quizet, and so forth, apparently unsigned, though the word "Lancel" on an awning could possibly be the artist's name. The painting dates to the post war period, likely the 1950's or early 1960's at latest, considering the style of the autos in the scene...

Mid Century Sci Fi oil on canvas of a card dealer wearing a dealers visor and a green cardigan sweater said to be magazine cover from a 1950s sci fi publication. We bought this and another we are listing in the late 1990 in Los Angeles , the seller didn't remember the artist name but said the artist was an early Sci Fi artist . the painting is unsigned in good condition though could use a cleaning. For your Mid Century interior, a really well-crafted oil on canvas painting, 22" by 28" (30" by 36" in wood frame, possibly the original), signed at lower center "Robert Anderson" and dated nearby "52". On the reverse the artist wrote "Robert P. Anderson/158 Old Road/Sewaren, N.J.". Sewaren is an unincorporated area in Middlesex County, just off the New Jersey turnpike in an industrial area between New Brunswick and Elizabeth, and just west of Staten Island...

Watercolor on paper, measuring approximately 12" by 16 1/2" (19" by 23" as framed), the subject El Capitan peak, also called Agathla by the Navajo people, a sharp, distinct isolated mountain south of Monument Valley, Arizona, over 1500 feet (457 meters) high. The drawing is titled "El Capitan" at lower left and signed with what appears to be "Turla" at lower right; I don't see a listing for that artist name...

The finely carved sculpture in exotic wool from the Muromachi period ( 1392-1573) with beautiful patina measuring 13” high and on a stand total height is 16”. This piece was collected at the opening of trade in 1853 by Thomas Green, a pilot on Commodore Perry's ship.

Gouache on satin painting of a well-dressed French young woman of the 1950's, by artist O. Vorgang. The work, unframed, measures 12" by 9 1/2" inside an old mat. It is signed at lower right (difficult to decipher) and remaining on the old mat is a printed label "Water Original Hand Painting on Satin by O. Vorgang". "French Girl" is also written on the back of the card to which the satin is laid (as well as some other old handwriting)...

This is a stunning, classic plein air style seascape painting (24" by 30", 29 1/2" by 33 1/2" as framed) signed at lower left by California master artist HENRY LEOPOLD RICHTER (1870-1960). A probable original title, "SURF", is written on the stretcher. The handling of color, motion, and especially the balance of sunlight and shadow is quite impressive. Having viewed a number of other works by the artist online, this one really seems to stand out...

Original gouache by Louis Wolchonok (American, New York, 1898-1973). This painting measures 15" by 5" (22" by 12" in its original frame). It is signed l.l. "Louis Wolchonok". Wolchonok is known as a painter, etcher, and author. He studied at the Academie Julian, at the NAD, the Cooper Union, and the Brooklyn Academy of Fine Art. Well listed, exhibited, and collected.

Oil on canvas laid on board 9 3/4" by 8", unframed, the subject a red-haired child, signed at lower right by the noted children's art illustrator at mid century, MAUD TOUSEY FANGEL (1881-1968). The work is slightly reminiscent of the impressionism of Pierre-Auguste Renoir. Fangel was a much-in-demand illustrator for east coast-based magazines such as Ladies Home Journal. She came to be something of a celebrity when it came to depicting children awake and asleep...
