A detailed 19th century American botanical watercolor of white roses and leaves, unsigned, circa 1880, measuring 9 3/4" by 6 1/4" inside the mat, 16 3/4" by 12 1/2" as framed. The piece is in good antique condition with light foxing and uneven toning in the background, commonly seen in works of this age, and perhaps a small tear that has browned at left edge. The drawing seems to me to be after perhaps an original illustration in a Charles Dickens (or other English author of the period) book...
