19th Century Frame Miniature Painting Plaque of Couple and Angle Signed

The frame is 7.9 inches (20 cm) long by 8.9 inches (22.7 cm) wide. The plaque is about 4.1 inches (10.5 cm) long by 5.5 inches (14 cm) wide. It is 1.5 Lb.

The plaque is warped and has stains, cracks, surface wears and scratches, and uneven surface (as seen in the photos).

A lovely antique watercolor painting featuring a path at the edge of a wooded landscape, a young girl at right picking lupine. The 16" by 23 1/2" work (23 1/2" by 31 1/4" framed) is signed at lower left and dated there 1910 by listed artist RALPH W. BARDILL (1876-1935). Bardill was known for his rural watercolor scenes, with autumn and winter forests, quaint villages and coastal scenes common subject matter. This work is in excellent condition...

If you admire Cezanne but can't quite afford one of his masterpieces, this might just be for you. The artist is unidentified but likely created this in the middle years of the century...

Circa 1950's oil on canvas of a mountain with cross on top, and what could be a small body of water in the foreground, painted in an impressionist hand. The scene could possibly be Mount Cristo Rey, a landmark with Christ cross on the summit, at the extreme southeast corner of New Mexico, overlooking the El Paso, Texas area. The work measures 16" by 18" and 21 1/2" by 24" framed. Sadly this became badly damaged at some point, with catastrophic tears through the composition...

Bronze sculpture of a figure, perhaps hugging a guitar or bass (or, abstracted second figure?), numbered 57/300 and signed at bottom by artist I. STOLOFF (IRMA STOLOFF, New York, 20th century). The work is 11 1/4" in height, sits on a 2" high black plinth, and weighs six pounds. Condition is excellent. You would appreciate the style if you admire the work of Henry Moore, Kenneth Armitage, Archipenko, or Barbara Hepworth...

Francis Hopkinson Smith, American, 1838-1915, "Bath Abbey". This rare, early 20th C. etching by Francis Hopkinson Smith measures 9 7/8 x 7 1/2 inches, pencil signed and titled. Smith was an author, artist and engineer, writing many books but also known for his atmospheric watercolors and oils. In his early years he is credited with building the foundation for the Statue of Liberty. At the age of 50 he gave up his engineering career and devoted the rest of his life to writing and painting.

Original woodcut (white pine) by Wendell H. Black (USA, 1919-1972), titled "Head of a Woman" or "Trinity". Artist Proof. Signed and dated "Wendell Black 58 by Elaine" l.r. From the first edition of 25 plus a couple of proofs printed posthumously by Berkley Chappell. No lifetime edition exists. 16 1/4" by 23 3/4". cf: The Lost Works of Wendell H. Black. Nye lived, worked and taught in Washington, DC for 58 years. While he may have been born in Richmond, VA, his love for the city earned him the distinction of a "native" son.

Nye was educated in public schools before entering the Corcoran School of Art at age 13...

Rare Burmese 18th Century Shan State hand carved white Marble Disciple in adoration. Solid and heavy piece. Polychrome with some discoloration due to age, condition: good. Size: H. 20" x W. 11.5" x D. 7.5"

Nicely framed antique print. Light foxing but more pronounced on the edges. The frame measures 13" x 18". Not examined out of frame-sold as is. "In the French engraving Le Lever after Freudenberg, of the 1780s (illustration, right), gentle social criticism is levelled at the lady of the court; that she slept without unlacing her stays, apparently, perhaps can be seen as artistic licence...

Watercolor on paper, 8" by 11 1/4" (12" by 15 1/2" framed), the scene a shallow, reedy small river and its grassy banks, a few majestic trees completing the peaceful scene. The artist signed his name "E. Starker" at lower left in pencil. Starker was a painter in Stuttgart and Leonberg. He studied at the Akademy Stuttgart with Kappis and Grünenwald and in Karlsruhe with Schönleber...

Pastel on thin paper board seascape of waves and distant shipping on a gray, overcast day, 10" by 18" (15" by 23" as framed) signed at lower left "Mangold". This is an early work by an obviously talented artist who does not appear to be "listed"...

Sir Frank Brangwyn, 1867-1956, British, etching, plate measures 19 x 20 3/4 inches in a 26 3/4 x 28 inch frame. The plate was etched on the spot. C 1906. Catalog: FASL 65. A somber and well inked print with a rich drypoint burr. A rare print!
