Condé Nast purchased Vogue in 1909 one year before Turnure's death and gradually grew the publication. He changed it to a women's magazine, and started Vogue editions overseas in the 1910s. Its price was also raised. The magazine's number of publications and profit increased dramatically under Nast's management. It continued to target an upscale audience and expanded into the coverage of weddings...

Dutch seascape, cards at Waters edge, signed FRILING Oil on canvas measuring 24 x 34“ and it’s original 19 century frame measuring 34 x 46“ Most likely a scene of the beach at Scheveningen, signed but signature largely illegible, appears to be dated "09," which along with the style of execution would suggest an affinity if not affiliation with the Amsterdam Impressionists who were active during the late 19th century into the early 20th...

Interesting gouache abstract painting in subtle grays and blues, signed on the reverse side of the Crescent art board "Jeannine Isaacs". The piece, measuring 9 3/4" square inside the mat opening, comes in an aluminum frame without glass. I do not see a recognized, listed artist by this name. The art probably dates to the 1970's I would suggest. Condition is excellent.

Circa 1930's or 1940's oil on canvasboard painting of a cognac bottle on a table top, an apple, lemon and orange completing the composition, signed at lower right "Henri Martin". The work besides an impressionist almost Pointillist hand, possesses a certain modernity particularly in the handling of the background. The painting would brighten dramatically with a cleaning to remove the old varnish and soiling. Measurements are 20" by 16" and 31" by 26 1/2" in the heavy, classic, dark oak frame...

“Paris Street Scene” Oil on panel 12 ½”x 8 3/8” w/o frame Goeneutte was born in Paris in 1854. In 1871, after working briefly as a lawyer's clerk, Goeneutte entered the studio of Isidore Pils at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts. When Pils died in 1875 Henri Lehmann took over the studio and Goeneutte left, moving to Montmartre. There he met Auguste Renoir, for whom he often modeled, and Marcellin Desboutin, who inspired his interest in engraving, etching and drypoint. Although Goeneutte was...
