Condé Nast purchased Vogue in 1909 one year before Turnure's death and gradually grew the publication. He changed it to a women's magazine, and started Vogue editions overseas in the 1910s. Its price was also raised. The magazine's number of publications and profit increased dramatically under Nast's management. An antique Kearsley hand coloured snake copper plate engraving print from 1801. This is a really fine example and it is entitled "VIPER-HEADAED SNAKE", from the original by James Heath. Interesting gouache abstract painting in subtle grays and blues, signed on the reverse side of the Crescent art board "Jeannine Isaacs". The piece, measuring 9 3/4" square inside the mat opening, comes in an aluminum frame without glass. I do not see a recognized, listed artist by this name. The art probably dates to the 1970's I would suggest. Condition is excellent.
