This is a most unusual and appealing pop art painting (unframed, 27" by 35") by a mid-coast California artist, Tom Shultz (1943-2017). Works by the artist, who passed away in his mid seventies, have been exhibited at a number of galleries, particularly in the Paso Robles area of central California. The piece is entirely hand painted (not silkscreened, which I at first thought a possibility) on a spongy, soft pulpboard, which the artist has also painted on the reverse (an abstract)...

Watercolor and ink on paper, 7 1/4" by 9 1/4", (13 1/2" by 15 1/2" in gold color metal frame), the subject a blue-striped lighthouse and keeper's home adjacent, signed at base of that lighthouse by California watercolor artist RITCHIE ALLEN BENSON (1941-1996). This is a nicely executed work and it is in excellent, fresh condition with no foxing nor water staining. Benson was born in the Los Angeles area and died in Washington state, but there is limited biographical information on him...

A primitive, circa 1880's oil on gray board landscape painting in the Hudson River style, with trees, water, and tiny figures completing the view. Measurements are 18 3/4" by 24 1/2", unframed. There is no signature. The board is slightly warped from old moisture exposure, which caused paint instability/flaking/losses at top couple of inches, as shown, and cracking at lower right. There are also a few light abrasions as shown.

An unframed early 19th century ink and watercolor drawing featuring an extensive landscape with mountains, trees, buildings and figures, titled in the gold paint hand-drawn strip on the ornate mat "ANSICHT DES KAPUZINERBERGES BEY SALZBURG". The work does not appear to be signed, though there is some old Germanic pencil writing on the backing sheet that could possibly supply some clues to authorship. A copy of "Yosemite and the Range of Light", 1979, 12 1/2" by 16", published by the New York Graphic Society, Boston, 1979, stated second printing, HAND SIGNED on an inserted label of Time-Life Books, Carmel, California, 1980. The book has the original dust jacket which like the rest of the book is not in perfect condition. Dust jacket has small stain at lower left and general signs of moderate wear and slightly light-struck at far left...
