Circa 1950's oil on canvas of a mountain with cross on top, and what could be a small body of water in the foreground, painted in an impressionist hand. The scene could possibly be Mount Cristo Rey, a landmark with Christ cross on the summit, at the extreme southeast corner of New Mexico, overlooking the El Paso, Texas area. The work measures 16" by 18" and 21 1/2" by 24" framed. Sadly this became badly damaged at some point, with catastrophic tears through the composition...

Unusual and Finely Modeled Continental Patinated-Bronze and Brass Novelty Lamp, with a bear climbing a branch on an urn depicting the torture of Bealesbub, on a font supporting a pair of winged griffins each with a wick extending from its mouth, on a tazza base adorned with arabesques and satyr masks, h. 11-5/8", dia. 6-3/4". Oil on thin board painting of a canal with figures, boats and adjacent sun-drenched buildings, possibly Venice, unsigned, measuring 6 7/8" by 11 1/2" (13 1/2" by 18" in attractive old frame). Whether Venice, Italy, or another Mediterranean locale, this is nicely executed by a trained hand. It could well be by a listed artist but without a signature it will be difficult to place the hand. The work is slipping around loose under the gold mat and it needs to be framed with acid-free materials...

Fine 20th century art of the Middle East is now selling at auction in specialized sales in Dubai for large sums of money. The present work does not appear to be by an artist, AL-HILALI, who is listed at the present time; however I feel the quality of the work suggests that as the market for modern Islamic art develops, the artist will be properly recognized. In 1970 Japanese print maker Haku Maki (1921 – 2000) produced this large Wind image. It is 84c x 84 cm; 33 " x 33" . Provenance; Maki produced this print and this copy was sold to a Japanese buyer it stayed in Japan until it came to me last week in Beijing this is one of the few times I have been able to obtain a Maki print from Japan not through a dealer. When the previous owner decided to sell he did so through an auction in Japan; then it was fully restore in Tokyo and I acquired it...

A rare print by surrealist print maker Ozaku Seishi, professor emeritus from Tama Art University. He is best known for small edition prints, usually up to 30 copies, limitless experimentation with printing techniques and surrealist, often graphic imagery resembling distorted reality ¬neither quite explicit nor quite horror, but rendering a fairly dark version of dreams. Sir William Russell Flint 1880-1969 British This is a fine expressive drypoint etching by British artist Sir William Russell Flint. The title is: Clatter and Whirl, Granada, it was created and printed in 1931 in an edition of 75. This image is hand signed, with sepia ink, numbered as XV and inscribed as using An antique laid type sheet from 1744, "D.R." The image measures 8 1/4X13 7/8 inches, printed with a brown toned ink, a very rich impression.
