A lovely impressionist painting, oil or oil gouache mix perhaps, 24" by 36" (34" by 45 1/2" framed), unsigned, the subject a young girl with the background evidently a scene in Mediterranean South of France, the Riviera. The whitewashed, luminous look overall reminds of works by noted artists Andre Gisson, Emilio Grau Sala, Charles Cobelle and the Dufy brothers (Jean and Raoul), as well as other artists of the so-called School of Paris. Condition is excellent. Frame has very slight chipping...

Circa 1940's pencil signed lithograph print "The Old Mill--Ruidoso, New Mex." by artist Kathryn S. Morrow. The print is clean and the impression strong. The mat is affixed over the print with tape in places; the sheet measures " by ", and size is " by " inside the mat. The work was framed in 1950 in Abilene, Texas, according to the stamp on the reverse, and in that time the simple wood frame has loosened up and the top bar is missing...

Etching, 4 3/4" by 6 5/8" inside the mat, 10" by 12 1/2" in simple black strip frame, titled in pencil at left margin "A Bermuda Lane" and signed in margin in pencil at lower right by artist RAY ALLEN. I do not see a listing for an artist of this name. The work likely dates to about the 1950's I would think, and is probably still in its original frame. The impression is strong, with a distinct plate mark. Disregard false yellow colors in some of the photos, which are an effect of the camera...

It has been suggested to me that this could be a British military colonel (I originally thought him American)...

An excellent example of the work of David Gibson, signed, lower left, "Gibson 1793". The sitter is a woman wearing a gown with low decolletage and a green and yellow hat. She is posed looking pensively to the viewer's left.

The painting is in excellent condition, with no flaws to speak of, and is in a gilt metal pendant case...

An early 20th century pastel landscape of trees and a small creek at left, 20" by 27 1/2" as framed behind glass, no mat, signed at lower right by artist H. W. Carr. This was a period of great activity in pastel landscape painting; displaying original art in one's home, instead of a mere print, was considered a symbol of status. The frame is worn, with chipping.

An unusual family grouping of three miniature portraits on organic wafers. All pieces, clearly done by the same hand (as yet unidentified), have a wonderful "feel" to them and are cleanly executed. The reverend in his black non-liturgical clothing, his wife in her black dress with white lace and cap, and their beautiful daughter, posed beside a tree and attired in a high-waisted gown with a blue ribbon and wearing a tortoiseshell comb in her hair, are set against a blue sky background...
