A circa 1910 watercolor painting of a blue-eyed young girl wearing a light yellow dress, a bow in her red-blonde hair, signed at lower right by Scottish-born, American artist JESSIE FISKEN (1860-1935). Fisken was born in Helensburg, Scotland and came to America with her parents and five siblings in 1888, apparently to the Seattle area (the way paved by her father's brother). By 1890 she was already listed as an artist. Portraits and miniatures are known by her hand...
Pastel and charcoal on gray paper, 17 1/2" by 11 1/2" (20" by 14" in wood frame), signed at lower right with conjoined initials "VG", which corresponds to the name of the artist Vinnie Gjere. I was able to figure out the authorship due to there being a companion piece on my site, also a still life and purchased at the same time as this one; that piece is not signed on the front but on the reverse in pencil is "Vinnie Gjere"...
This is a fine work of art, 21 1/2" by 12 1/2", ( 24" by 16" as framed), unsigned on front but bears a handwritten notation on reverse "Vinnie Gjere", which definitely refers to the artist; see a companion piece also on my site, which is actually signed with a conjoined "VG" monogram on the front.

This is a very well-painted miniature depicting a courtly scene of a nobleman and his companion on a pleasure boat, with three female attendants. Although Mughal in style, I am not 100% convinced that the painting is indeed of the period. For that reason, I am listing it as decorative only and have priced it accordingly. Inscriptions frame the painting, which appears to be taken from a manuscript. The painted area is roughly 4" X 8" and is in excellent condition...
