The canvas is a little buckled especially at left, as it is laid against the panel and not firmly glued to it...

By the well regarded Belgian artist JACQUES HOTE (1939-1986), this is a highly worked, detailed ink drawing on Japan tissue-type paper, measuring 8 1/2" by 11 1/4" (13 1/2" by 15 1/2" simply framed, no glass). The work is signed at lower right and dated there March 22,1969. The figures, caricatures, really, are quite strange, many with exaggerated Gallic noses; the subject/message of the drawing is not clear to me, but it likely lies in the realm of politics and satire and social commentary...

Oil on canvasboard panel painting of a scene in the French Quarter of New Orleans, 19" by 8" (24 1/4" by 12 1/2" framed), signed at lower right with what appears as "Dettick" or "Derrick". This work was likely created for the lively tourist scene in the French Quarter in the 1960's or early 1970's. It has been suggested that the artist is one "Dick Nick", who has been an active participant in the New Orleans Jackson Square art scene from the 1960's. Condition is excellent.

A nicely painted contemporary work on canvas, unsigned, 12" by 16", unframed, featuring a landscape of trees with early autumnal colors showing. The piece is in excellent condition. Needs a frame which should be easy/economical as the size is a "standard" size. The anonymous artist has created a very pleasing work; an excellent understanding of both impressionist theory as well as light and color is evident.

Pencil signed etching of a religious man leaning on a staff, numbered 48/100 and pencil signed along with "Jerusalem" in lower right margin, by well listed Israeli artist JAKOB (also Jacob and Yaakov) EISENBERG (1897-1966). Eisenberg was born in Pinsk, Russia and emigrated to Israel in 1913. A pleasant watercolor painting of a working windmill in an extensive landscape, the sheet 9 3/4" by 13 1/4", currently loose under a mat, no frame, signed at lower left by listed English artist ALFRED WILLIAM RICH (1856-1921). Other than normal age toning of the paper, there are several spots of foxing, a missing extreme upper right corner, which is easily hidden by the mat, and reverse browning from residue of varnish or old adhesive...

A detailed gouache painting of two female and one male figure in a green landscape with trees and flowers, 9 1/2" by 7 1/2" (13 1/2" by 11 1/2" in gold framing), painted in the centuries-old traditional style of the Indo-Persian School, but contemporary. The condition is excellent and this is a very decorative piece. The amount of work involved to create such a detailed image is stupendous---though the market undervalues the handiwork.

Watercolor painting of some age, 13" by 10 1/2" (22" by 18" framed), the subject simply a tree, but, that subject is handled very beautifully, and the work is signed at lower right by artist Paula Day (on whom I find no information). The interpretation of light and color belies the hand of a talented artist. Judging from the framing materials this dates no later than the mid 1960's and likely earlier. I recommend a new mat only; the frame can be retained.
