He is perhaps best known for his modern and surrealistic paintings, but painted a wide range of subject matter, including clowns. Interestingly, a big collector of his work seems to have been none other than Noel Coward...

A fine and accomplished watercolor abstracted drawing in the Cubist style of the early 20th century, unsigned, the sheet 15" by 10", the drawing itself 6 1/2" by 4 1/4", (21" by 15 1/2" nicely framed). I did open this to inspect for a signature and found none, nor any other information as to artist. The work could have some age, or it could be of recent vintage; difficult to tell from looking at the pebbled paper. Most certainly it is a nice drawing and very decorative and attractive as it is...

PIERREL. I do not see a listing for the artist but have not searched extensively, although I have encountered other works by this talented hand. The painting is of a nice size and should please any Francophile...

Each print is signed at lower right in pencil by well known New Orleans artist EUGENE F. LOVING (1908-1971). This scene is near Dartmouth in southwestern England not far from Plymouth. I would judge the age of the picture as circa 1870...

A color poster "Fragments", 1985, hand signed in marker at bottom by the noted California sculptor of human figures, ROBERT GRAHAM (1938-2008). The piece measuring 38 1/2" by 20 1/2" is very clean and fresh. Graham was born in Mexico City where as a youngster he was exposed to the great mural art of Mexico. A circa mid 20th century oil on Masonite landscape painting of trees and a wide stream, 20" by 36" (25 1/2" by 31" framed), signed in Russian or possibly Ukrainian (or, Armenian?) at lower left. The work currently has a yellowish cast which appears to be nicotine from cigarette smoke. Were it to be cleaned the painting might well be totally a different color, but the yellowish "autumnal" tone seems to work on its own. Condition is very good with only a few light abrasions.

A **PAIR** of oil on canvas laid on board paintings of New Orleans scenes, each 16" by 7" (and 19" by 10" identically framed), each signed "Mansfield".
