Jake Lee's works are increasingly sought after by collectors in the wake of his relatively recent passing, some works approaching $20,000 at auctions. This is a clean, unusually large (24" by 36" plus 4" on a side framing) example, painted directly on board in heavy gouache or tempera (thinned oil?) and in excellent condition. A whimsical, colorful painting of a cat, signed at lower right with initials "C.L" and dated there 1980. The work is on canvas, 21" by 25 1/4" framed. The unknown artist was certainly talented. Further research could possibly determine his/her identity. The painting is in very good vintage condition. There is a bit of light soiling here and there but no punctures or other issues.

Woman with a Cat, oil on canvas 30”x24” Foussa Itaya was born in 1919 in Foukouoka, Japan and finished his studies at the school of Beaux Arts in Japan. He has exhibited at the Salon Nikakai and in 1953 went to Paris to exihibit his works. In 1955 he exhibited at the Drouant-David Gallery, and many of his works are on exhibit at the Israel Museum, Carnegie Hall in New York, the Japanese Embassy in Paris, and in Switzerland as well.

Oil on canvas painting, unsigned, 24" by 12", in pinkish wood strip framing. The colors of the painting could be described as creamy light pink with some green. The work might have some age as it appears that "12-81" is written on the stretcher, possibly a date; and olden-days "$2.03" price is stamped on inside of the frame. There is a three-dimensional relief in places, where the artist spread the paint. No varnish, dull surface.

In the style of famous American abstractionist Sam Francis (1923-1994) is this abstract oil (acrylic?) on canvas "splatter" or "drip" painting, unframed, 25" by 23 1/2", unsigned. The work appears to have some age, to perhaps the 1970's. Note the width of the stretcher (almost two inches).
