Colorful landscape painting of a modest dwelling perched on a rise above a turquoise aqua colored sea, leaning coconut palms framing the scene and two small sail boats in the distance, signed at lower left "Dickerson". The work, on panel, measures 12" by 15 1/2" (14 1/2" by 18" simply framed). The scene could be Hawaii or the Caribbean; hard to tell. The impressionist palette, and especially the various shades of blue, make for an appealing painting...

Armenian watercolor painting of the famous, sacred snow-covered mountain, Ararat, signed in Armenian at lower right. The work measures 11 1/4" by 16" (14" by 18 3/4" in gold frame). The work likely dates from about 1970 through 1980 or so. It is framed behind non-glare glass, which tends to blur detail. Condition is excellent. Armenian-speakers, please contact me if you are able to make out the name.

Contemporary pencil and watercolor drawing in simple metal gold framing, the subject two women apparently dancing in a late 19th century cafe, the drawing 8 1/2" by 5 1/4" inside the mat (the entire sheet significantly larger, at 11 3/4" by 8 1/4"), signed at lower right "Dan" or "Han" or similar. The scene reminds of George Grosz' 1920's drawings of Berlin cafe goers, or even Toulouse Lautrec's Parisian cafe's. The drawing is nicely crafted.

Oil on canvasboard painting of a lonely rutted dirt track in the California desert, 16" by 20" (21 1/2" by 25 1/2" framed), signed at lower right by artist Helen Hausman. I think the painting probably dates to the 1950's or very early 1960's. It is very dirty with yellowed varnish and grime. A cleaning would work wonders.

Esther Anna Hunt (1875-1951) is known today in California art circles as a keen observer of the traditional culture as displayed in San Francisco's Chinatown. Her paintings and plaster bust models of young girls in traditional costume make regular appearances in auctions of California art. This work appears to have been created by one of Hunt's many early 20th century imitators. Unsigned, there are what appear to be initials "M.E.E." on the inside of the mat and on the inside of the backing...

Oil on canvas painting of a street scene, presumably in Israel, 16" by 11 1/4" framed, signed at lower left "Moshe M.". This does not appear to be by Moshe Mokady, the best known artist with whom that name corresponds closely. Nevertheless it is a competently handled work in excellent condition.

Watercolor on paper painting 19" by 24" (27" by 34" frame in which found is available at no extra cost), the subject northeastern-style clapboard homes in late autumn season, signed at lower right by artist BEN ROSEN. This is an etching by the important American artist JOHN SLOAN (1871-1951), titled "Dupont's Ride", on wove paper, in an edition of apparently 1,000 examples, published in Boston in 1902 by the Frederick Quinby Company. A decorative print, 27" by 23 1/2" in its white wood frame with blue inner fillet, after the painting "Blue Bouquet" by the important modern French artist BERNARD BUFFET (1928-1999). The painting was produced in 1957, so the print likely dates to the late 1950's or early 1960's. There are light scratches at lower right measuring about 4", and some small loss areas at upper left showing as white spots. These are not major issues when viewed casually from normal viewing distance, and if they tr...
