Interesting painting of the Southwest, showing Native Americans at a nocturnal religious ceremony or festival such as Penitente, probably in New Mexico, many candles flickering in the scene also populated with processional crosses. The blues of the nocturne dominate the composition, and the yellow crosses and many candles receding into the distance complete this most agreeable painting. The work is signed at bottom right with what appears as "Judith Rossio" or "Romo" or similar...

Large original signed bronze sculpture on wood base by Irma Rothstein (American, born in Russia, 1906-1971). Almost 20" high including base. In excellent original condition. Irma Rothstein was born in Rostoff, Russia, and studied art in Vienna before emigrating to the United States in 1938. She sculpted the busts of celebrities such as George Bernard Shaw, Hermann Broch, Alexandre Gretchaninoff, Ernest Hemingway, etc...

This is a PAIR of color aquatints, each 8 1/2 by 12" inside the mat, 13 1/4" by 17" as framed, the subjects Notre Dame cathedral and the Seine in Paris, and the flower market at the Madeleine, each numbered at lower left out of editions of 500 and signed at lower right in pencil, by the noted French 20th century impressionist painter CHARLES BLONDIN (1913-1991)...

Beer Wagon etching by Harry Lewis Bailey. 8 x 12“. Frame Size 15x19". Harry Lewis Bailey was born in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1879. He studied at the St. Louis School of Fine Arts. He was an etcher who relocated to California where he was an illustrator and etcher. He became a member of the California Arts Club, the California Society of Etchers and the Printmakers Society.

ALBERT WEBSTER DAVIES 1889-1967 AMERICAN FARM WITH COWS GRAZING IN A PASTURE Oil on Canvas; Signed lower left: Davies AWD lived most of his life in New Hampshire. He is known for his genre scenes which he paints in a naive style. He is listed in many art reference books including The Artists Bluebook and Davenport's Art Reference. Dimensions; 20" wide x 24" high, framed; 25" x 28.5"

Oil on panel, 9 1/4" by 12 1/2" (14 1/4" by 17 1/4" as framed), signed at lower left in red "Karla Mirabal", and inscribed on label on reverse, "Judge M. R. Mirabal Homestead in New Mexico" "Artist Karla King--So Calif and New Mexico--Artists of West--WHAA". This is probably of historical interest, depicting as it does an early home. The work is very impasto and impressionistic. The painting is a bit soiled but could be placed on the wall as is. Note the two young girls on the porch.

Circa 1940 watercolor landscape painting, 11 1/4" by 15 1/4", 19" by 22 1/2" framed (no glass), signed at lower left by artist Edith Ovaitt. Edith appears to have been a talented amateur artist. An internet search reveals a woman by that name born in 1893 or 1898, living in Flint, Michigan at the time of the 1930 census. That Edith Ovaitt died in 1969. Ovaitt is apparently a fairly common name in that area. The watercolor's blue dominating color is very soothing and the work is clean...

A wonderful oil on canvas of landscape with sheep, Hackensack River by the New England Artist Robert Van Boskerck 1855-1932. The artist who lived in the Boston area painted most of his life there. This work is an oil on canvas measuring 16” x 24”

PAIR of etchings of dogs, one a Fox Terrier, the other a Scottish Terrier, each signed at lower right in pencil by the renowned twentieth century German dog and cat and other animal artist, KURT MEYER-EBERHARDT (1895-1977). The artist was born in Leipzig and died in Munich. In the late 1920's he was studying with Thedor Hagen and Lyonel Feininger, and could have ascended to the highest levels of the art world.
