Poem 70-19 is one of the fairly small group of deep blue prints that Maki made. This one is 5.75 in W x 8.5in H and created in 1970. It is in good condition, with some toning due to its once having been framed.

A striking mid century aquatint etching in colors by the noted European artist and print maker JOHNNY FRIEDLAENDER (1912-1992). The unframed print, 8 1/2" by 5 1/2" inside the present mat opening (sheet 13 1/2" by 9 1/2") is signed at lower right margin with the artist's distinctive signature and numbered 41/55 at lower left. Friedlaender was a pioneer in the aquatint process, having taught such artists as Rodo Boulanger...

Unlike most commonly seen works by this artist, which are actually serigraph prints, this is an original oil on canvas painting, measuring 34" by 18" (unframed). The scene, which could be described as a floral fantasy, incorporating at least two human heads floating within the composition, is rather typical of the work of the artist, HERMANN DIETRICH (1916-2003). Dietrich's online profile has only in recent years become more developed...

W.T. Carlsen Danish born Canadian Artist who work in Canada and Scandinavia. Known for his rich harbor scenes. This work dates from the 1970s and is done from his memory of Denmark. The work is oil on panel and measures 24 x 24“, and is framed in a beautiful 1970s era drift wood frame measuring 32 x 32“

Watercolor on paper, with skilled use of wet-on-wet technique, 19" by 27" (31" by 38" as framed), the subject quite possibly a city with figures, (but that is just a guess---only the artist knew for sure), signed at lower right "G. Benaroyo" (or "Benaroya") and dated there 1962. I believe Benaroyo or Benaroya is a Jewish surname, and I discovered upon opening this up that there is writing in Hebrew on the back of the work, the words "Benaroya landscape" and the original $150 price...

This is a rather unusual and visually arresting contemporary work by a Japanese or Japanese-American artist, signed at top right "Yasushi Saito" and dated there '78. An oil on canvas, unframed, measuring 23" by 19", the work is difficult to describe: a carp-like blue fish at right center appears with conical mountains that resemble Mount Fuji or desert peaks, as stunted bizarre vegetation, possibly trees, complete the visual feast...

This is an original ink wash on paper drawing, 12" by 17 1/2" (17 3/4" by 23" as framed shadow-box style behind Plexiglas), the image featuring a voluptuous nude woman and a bull that looks positively Chagall-like, signed at lower left corner by the highly important American twentieth century sculptor artist, REUBEN NAKIAN (1897-1986)...

This is another of Haku Maki’s depictions of the kanji天 for day, heaven, sky. It’s a fairly easy character to make stark and lovely. The next year, 1971, he did another black-and-white dramatic rendering of the same kanji (Poem 71-51, which is below at #1452042 (stock #1077). The print is 12in square and in excellent condition.

Painting signed Fang Zhaoling , (yes this is an emulation), dimensions are 85cm x51cm , with mounting L:225cm/88in and W:73cm/28.8in. Fang Zhaoling (Chinese: 方召麐, 17 January 1914 – 20 February 2006), also known as Lydia Fong, was a Chinese painter and calligrapher. She a led fascinating and turbulent life eventually settling in Hong Kong in 1948. Her daughter Anson Chan. The painting is well mounted on a traditional scroll.

Chinese colossal armchair in carved wood. Dimensions of an Imperial throne. Excellent quality wood, very hard with very fine grain, excessively heavy (an armchair weighs 80kg) nice grain. Intricate but elegant perfect cabinetmaker work. Sculptures in relief and cut with a total mastery of the tool. The drawings are precise, elegant and show no fault of chisel or taste. In addition, all the subjects treated have traditional Chinese meanings, longevity, fortune, luck, marital happiness, etc...

Jake Lee's works are increasingly sought after by collectors in the wake of his relatively recent passing, some works approaching $20,000 at auctions. This is a clean, unusually large (24" by 36" plus 4" on a side framing) example, painted directly on board in heavy gouache or tempera (thinned oil?) and in excellent condition. Lawrence Stephen Lowry (1887-1976) is one of England's most beloved modern artists, his body of work, generally executed in a distinctive naive style, focusing on (as Wikipedia listing says) "scenes of life in industrial districts of North West England and 20th century urban landscapes peopled with human figures referred to as 'matchstick men'". He was a generally shy and not especially sociable, humble man, who turned down a number of honors such as knighthood, by an appreciative nation...

Here is a decorative Americana item, if you enjoy the work of one of America's most beloved and famous painters, EDWARD HOPPER, but you can't afford to buy the real thing (priced well into the millions), and yet you want something more than an offset print in a plastic frame. A Hopper painting similar to this is in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, and it measures 29 1/2" by 43 1/2"...
