Signed and numbered 25/35, this unframed limited edition lithograph by Spratling titled TIERRA CALIENTE was produced in 1931 from his original drawing for his book LITTLE MEXICO. The lithograph measures 16" X 11.5". The landscape image is about 8.5" X 8". This is one of 7 lithographs we purchased from Weyhe Gallery in NY in 1995. Oil on masonite painting "Autumn in the Rockies" by Arthur J. Hammond (sgnd l.r.). This work uses bright autumnal colors muted with browns and greys. The broad, heavy strokes give the work a post-Impressionist look. The painting was acquired along with two others, both dated 1924, hence the dating of this work.

Oil on canvas painting, 20" by 28" (24" by 32" framed), the subject a great clipper ship of the 19th century silhouetted against the setting sun (or dawn) on a calm sea. The painting is signed at lower left by the artist, William P. Lawrence and is dated below that either 1938 or 1928; difficult to discern. I don't see that he is a listed artist but obviously he was talented. The scene has a fine luminosity and clearly shows the painter's understanding of light and backlighting...
