The image size is 12 1/8 x 16 inches, 1916, pencil signed; a richly inked impression on a fine cream colored Japan paper. Unwin studied at the Winchester School of Art and the Slade School; he traveled extensively throughout Europe and spent several months in Egypt drawing the tomb interiors for an archaeological expedition...

This is a study in pencil by FERNAND LUNGREN (1859-1932) for an oil landscape of arid desert mountains of the American west. It measures 8" by 10 1/2". There's a mat but the work is not framed. This is a subtle work that is best viewed in person; it's very, very hard to photograph. The artist has made notations like "shaddow" (spelled like that), "all golden in warm sun", and "warm rosy gray".........showing the creative process...

“Il Golfo Di Napoli” Gouache on board, 10.5" x 7" framed, circa 1860 Mr. Guisti was a very popular and prolific street artist of the 19th century. He worked and lived mostly in Naples, Italy however his art can be found in galleries all over the world. This gem was discovered while searching for antiques in New York City.

Old ink and watercolor drawing of early 19th century men and a boy pictured in an English interior, executed probably early years of the 20th century, signed "O. Krause" and also bearing the word "Copy", 6 1/2" by 6" inside the opening in black glass eglomise style "mat", 10 1/4" by 9" as it was originally framed. The drawing seems to me to be after perhaps an original illustration in a Charles Dickens (or other English author of the period) book...

A very early black and white photo of the Sierra Nevada Mountains of eastern California, signed in the plate at lower right "A. A. Forbes Photo". This is a work of the noted early photographer of the region, ANDREW ALEXANDER FORBES (1862-1921). Forbes was born in Wisconsin, showing early interest in photography. By 1885 he was in Oklahoma, taking photos of the early territorial days there. Continuing ever west with his equipment, he was in Southern California by 1890...

Old (possibly 19th century, early 20th at latest) American watercolor painting of a small cove and beach, unsigned, 9" by 12 5/8" inside the present mat (13" by 16 3/4" in modern framing), with some experimental sketching by the artist on the reverse. On that side he/she wrote "Aug. 19 water deeper, especially in the curve". The drawing is by a talented hand which unfortunately did not sign it.
