Oil on canvas landscape of a snowy peak towering above lower mountains, a lone figure in a row boat at lower right in the lake, signed at lower right "Wm. Rennison" or similar. The early 20th century work measures 14" by 24" (17 3/4" by 28" in modern-day antique style framing). The work reminds of the Hudson River School. If I am reading the name correctly, I am not able to locate a listed artist by that name...

This is a fine portrait etching by European artist Anders Zorn. This pencil signed etching titled Guill II was created and printed in 1918. The image measures 7 3/4X5 3/4 . This pencil signed impression is lightly evenly toned and archivally framed. This image appears in the zorn catalog as image number 165.
A beautifully framed, plain beautiful oil on canvas painting, 15" by 18" (23" by 25 1/2" framed), the subject figures in a country landscape, painted skillfully in true impressionist style, by listed French artist EUGENE CHAFFANEL (1860-1929). The artist is Benezit-listed, though biographical information seems to be scarce. He hailed from the Nancy region of western France, and seems to have made a trip to New York in 1887. Old ink and watercolor drawing of early 19th century men and a boy pictured in an English interior, executed probably early years of the 20th century, signed "O. Krause" and also bearing the word "Copy", 6 1/2" by 6" inside the opening in black glass eglomise style "mat", 10 1/4" by 9" as it was originally framed. The drawing seems to me to be after perhaps an original illustration in a Charles Dickens (or other English author of the period) book...

Hans Zatzka was born on 8 March 1859 in Vienna. His father Bartholomaüs was a construction worker, and his mother was Marie Karpischek Zatzka.[6] Between 1877 and 1882, he studied at the Academie des Beaux-Arts, under Christian Griepenkerl, Carl Wurzinger, and Karl von Blaas.Zatzka was able to earn a living through the production of frescoes for churches and other institutions.
In 1885, Zatzka was commissioned to create the ceiling fresco The Naiad of Baden at Kurhaus Baden.

Famous for his paintings of Fort Garry (Winnipeg, Manitoba), this 12-1/4" x 9-1/4" artwork is in a period (repainted) gold 17-1/2" x 14-1/2" frame.
