Large (22" by 36", unframed) pastel drawing on heavy paper, which has been in turn laid on canvas, signed at lower left center by the well-listed American landscape artist GEORGE DOUGLAS BREWERTON (1827-1901). A rare print from a series partially based on Hiroshige I's series (Famous Views of the 60-odd Provinces). This particular view by his protege is not based on a Hiroshige I work.

A softly drawn work featuring the head of a putto, between wings, on a trimmed sheet of paper, somewhat irregularly shaped, measuring 6 1/2" by 11 3/4" (12" by 17" in modern-day gold frame). There is no signature. Frame has slight chip loss at upper left corner. A true antique drawing with considerable age; how old, it is not easy to say with certainty. There are light folds and creases. Paper is affixed at edges and corners to modern board. Allow for reflections in a few images.
