The work is in very good condition, with just a bit of dark foreign matter at left edge as shown, likely removable. This is a double-sided drawing of figures by the very well listed American artist RICO (FEDERICO) LEBRUN (1900-1964), measuring 9 1/2" by 7 1/2" (10 3/4" by 8 3/4" in temporary protective framing). The front side shows a figure of a warrior, drawn rapidly in ink; at the bottom in pencil is "to Kate/from Rico--1948". On the reverse are two figures drawn rapidly with pencil, and no writing. On a recent label affixed to the backing is written the phrase "GIFT TO KATHERINE STEEL FROM RICO LEBRUN"...

A nicely limned portrait miniature painting on natural wafer. The sitter is a young gentleman with brown eyes and curly brown hair, attired in a black tie and jacket, white shirt, and yellow vest. The background is a pleasing bluish-gray. Set in a gilt metal case engraved on the reverse with "G.A.H." and the date 1836. The glazed aperture on the reverse contains a circlet of hair.

Watercolor on paper of gazelle running in an exotic subtropical landscape, 17 1/2" by 13 1/2" inside the mat (27" by 22" framed), unsigned, but obviously by an artist of talent. The work shows a striking visual energy, the animals frozen in mid-step. This could be a scene painted in Africa, or, it could be from the imagination of the artist. The painting probably dates to the 1930's or 1940's or thereabouts; there is an Art Deco feeling...
