Original gouache painting of Balboa Park's California Tower and other nearby architecture, 19 1/2" by 28 1/2" in simple framing, signed at lower right by artist C.L. Jay. The work could date to the 1950's or so judging from the dress of the figures included in the composition. It would make for an excellent addition to your Californiana collection and your bungalow or Arts and Crafts and Mission interior...

This is a very attractive impressionist work, 18" by 23 3/4" (24" by 29" as framed), unsigned, the subject a line of trees, fading sunlight filtering through them, all in a green and brown palette that seems very Arts and Crafts in feeling. I think the work was likely executed in the 1940's or thereabouts. The stretcher is new, and I am trying to decide if the painting has been lined on a newer canvas...

Oil on canvas spring country landscape complete with peasant goose herder, two houses by a pond or small lake and flowering trees at right, 24" by 36", unframed, signed at lower left by listed Hungarian artist JOSEPH DANDE (1911-1969). Dande seems to have painted in the style pioneered by better known artist Laszlo Neogrady. Neogrady painted very similar spring country landscapes, as well as his signature snow-laden mid winter trees----and Dande has also painted those winter landscapes...

A Dutch 17th century etching of a standing horse near a humble abode, 6 3/4" by 7 3/4" (14" by 15 1/2" in 20th century appropriate black frame), unsigned, and with no initials or other indication as to authorship. The work bears old pencil notations on the reverse side of the mat; there appear to be names of potential artists that were pondered by a previous observer in my position (including, it appears, question marks to himself)...

Large terracotta sculpture we named "Leaf Tree Man". The body is stylized tree bark with a green glaze wash. By West Coast artist Dirk Dahl, the statue is signed by the artist and in excellent condition. Measures 24 inches high, 16" long. Weighs about 18 lbs.

Oversized limited-edition Japanese woodblock print by Joshua Rome (b. 1953) titled “Fuyu no Hi (Winter's Day)” dated 2/15/1981. The bottom margin is titled, dated, numbered 30/100 and signed in pencil. The artist's red seal is beside the signature. Paper: 9" x 24 5/8" (image: 6 11/16” x 21 5/8"). Very good overall condition. The print is very lightly sunstruck and there are tiny brown spots about the size of the tip of a pin scattered throughout the paper.

An impressively detailed circa 1860's watercolor of Lausanne in western Switzerland, signed at lower right by listed French artist Achille Gratien Gallier (1814-1871). The 150 year old work is in excellent condition, appearing to have been done yesterday. The scene is the Cathedral of Notre Dame (dating to as early as 1170) and nearby buildings, with tiny figures in the foreground, and even their hound dogs playing at lower left...

A mourning portrait miniature attributed to John Henry Brown of an attractive young woman with blue eyes and long curly hair. The painting is in excellent condition with no problems. The velvet lined leather case is also in excellent condition, with normal and expected light wear to the exterior. The white flecks in the photographs are dust motes, and not present in person...

White Mountain Landscape Oil on canvas 18” x 30” w/o frame Benjamin Champney is synonymous with White Mountain paintings of the 19th century. Most art historians consider him the founder of the White Mountain School of painters who came to North Conway and the surrounding area during the second half of the 19th century. His paintings were often used to make chromolithographs that were subsequently sold to tourists who could not afford Champney's originals...

A naïve miniature watercolor on wafer painting of a gentleman with a piercing gaze and a neatly trimmed beard. Set against a darkish green background, he is wearing a black jacket, vest, and tie with a stickpin. In a cast foliate case with a coil of plaited hair in the glazed window on the reverse.

Condition is excellent, with no issues. Sight size is 2 1/8" by 1 3/4", and the overall size is 2 3/8" by 2".
