Edgar Chahine 1874-1947 French This is an original etching by French artist Edgar Chahine. The image is pencil signed and titled: La Basilica de San Marco, Venice. This is a finely printed example on a laid type sheet. The image measures 12 1/2X8 1/4 inches. It is numbered as 35/100. There is a stamp or collectors seal at the upper border. Richly printed with fine use of plate tone. This impression was created and printed in 1923.

Watercolor on paper, 10 1/4" by 5 1/4" (15 1/2" by 10 1/2" framed), the subject apparently an ornate inner courtyard of a famous Portuguese palace and present day tourist magnet, the Sintra National Palace near Lisbon. I am guessing on this, having googled various possibilities, but comparing the window style, wonderful tile details and the castellated ledge at top, I think the odds are excellent that this be the Portuguese subject...

This image was sold by Associated American Artists in New York. The image measures 11 3/4X8 3/4 inches. Beauful condition, matted not framed.

By the hand of noted Southwestern artist MANUEL S. FRANCO, a large, detailed work, consisting of two separate paintings framed as one: the principal painting of the iconic Taos Pueblo in northern New Mexico, and the smaller work at right a black ware traditional pot. Reginald Cleveland Coxe, American, 1855-1926, "Home Again". This is an atmospheric scene of a ship coming into port, pulled by a tugboat; it is rendered with remarkabley delicate lines and a rich yet quite subtle tonal range, giving a strong sense of a soft morning fog over calm waters. The canvas sails of the ship beautifully contrast with the steam of the tug as is dissipates into the misty air. The image measures 19 x 23 inches, published in 1887, pencil signed on the lower right margin...

A lovely antique watercolor painting featuring a path at the edge of a wooded landscape, a young girl at right picking lupine. The 16" by 23 1/2" work (23 1/2" by 31 1/4" framed) is signed at lower left and dated there 1910 by listed artist RALPH W. BARDILL (1876-1935). Bardill was known for his rural watercolor scenes, with autumn and winter forests, quaint villages and coastal scenes common subject matter. This work is in excellent condition...

By the listed South African modern artist STANLEY NKOSI (1945-1988) is this PAIR of charcoal on paper drawings celebrating the nobility of manual laborers, identically framed in silvery metal, the drawings measuring 22 1/2" by 17 1/2", both signed at bottom and dated there "73". Nkosi was an interesting figure. Born in Natal he moved to Dukathole near Germiston in the Transvaal (now Gauteng)...

Watercolor on paper, 13" by 21 1/2" inside the original gold over mat, 20 1/2" by 29" in its original goldish frame (no glass), apparently unsigned, the subject the dramatic waterfalls of the tropics----Iguassu Falls on the Brazil/Argentina border, perhaps, or Victoria Falls in central Africa. Unfortunately there is no title or location given, though these would be good guesses...

THREE original watercolors of women in elaborate costuming of the Art Nouveau period, circa 1890's, each signed with the pen name "Japhet", identical sizes and framing, (10 1/4" by 6 1/2", and 13 1/2" by 9 1/2" framed), by the noted French illustrator artist ALEXANDRE JEAN LOUIS JAZET (1814-1897). Jazet was the son of an artist who became a skilled engraver and lithographer, working often in stage design as an illustrator. He often signed with the pen name "Japhet" and "Minon"...

George Elbert Burr 1859-1939 American This is one of the finest etchings by American artist George Elbert Burr. The title of this work is: High Street, Oxford, circa 1900 when he and his wife spent time touring europe. A wonderful impression of a rainy night in the city. Richly inked, pencil signed and titled in the lower border. The image measures 10X12 inches. Framed.

Harold Kerr Eby, American, 1889-1946, "The Lobster Fleet," etching, 9 3/8 x 11 1/2 inch etching and sandpaper ground on wove type paper, ed. 100. Cat: Giardina 193. Printed in 1937. Pencil signed "Kerr Eby imp", the "imp" indicating that Eby printed this impression himself. Kerr Eby was a remarkable printmaker and a member of the Cos Cob Art Colony and friends with many of the important artist of the day, including Childe Hassam and John Taylor Arms...
