An example of the large color lithograph print "Winter Harvest", published 1981 in an edition of 950 examples, pencil signed at lower right margin by the noted Alaskan artist FRED MACHETANZ (1908-2002). This example is numbered 803/950. The supremely patient, stoic Eskimo woman stands above a hole in the ice, and the fish haul is laid out on that ice. The print measures 20 1/2" by 32" inside the mat (one of the artist's larger prints) and 30" by 41" as framed...

PAIR of old watercolor paintings of ceramic and metal objects on table tops in an interior, the first 21" by 28" framed, the second 19" by 24" framed, the larger work signed at lower right by European (French?) artist Joanny Rec. These are beautifully executed fine watercolors in excellent condition. I have found little information on the artist after an extensive online search. The name suggests a Belgian or French nationality, I would think, but I would not rule out another...

This c. 1877 drypoint on copper measures 6 x 9 inches, pencil signed, cat: Schneiderman-152, III/V, artist proof. Sir Francis Seymour Haden was one of the most important British etchers of the 19th century, along with his brother in law James Whistler. In addition to being a highly regarded artist he was a successful surgeon, accomplished author and dedicated angler. He was a founder and the first president of the Royal Society of Painter-Etchers and Engravers, and was knighted in 1894.

DALE NICHOLS (1904-1995) is an American artist best known for his lyrical paintings of Midwest Heartland homesteads and farms in deep winter. These coveted paintings sell for mid to upper five figures at major New York auctions. Nichols was a traveler and later in life he spent considerable time in Guatemala, where he painted a number of works showing the landscape and inhabitants. See the askart listing on him. Maria Ada Gianni 1873-1956 Italian This is a fine original gouache painting by Italian artist Maria Gianni. The scene is the Bay of Naples with Mt Vesuvius in the background. The painting is signed lower left. The image measures 5X12 1/2 inches and came to us in what appears to be the original early frame which measures 8X16 inches.

A well painted miniature portrait, executed in watercolors on organic material. The sitter is a nice looking blue-eyed young man wearing a black coat and blue patterned waistcoat. Presented in what appears to be the original heavy cast gilt bronze frame.

There are no condition issues with the painting, and the sight size is 4 1/2" by 3 1/2" with an overall size of 6" by 5 1/4".

The drawing would likely be an academic study by the artist at age 19, while receiving art education...
