Original 1956 Mourlot-printed lithograph poster after a 1936 charcoal drawing by the famed French 20th century artist HENRI MATISSE (1869-1954), printed for a mid 1950's exhibition at Galerie Berggruen at 70, Rue de L'Universite in Paris. The unframed poster measures 25 3/4" by 17 1/4". It is in good clean condition, the blue color not faded, though I note the presence some commonly encountered handling creases, the sharpest of them to the left of the nude's head and at the upper corners...

Dragons—or at least the kanji for them—featured often in Haku Maki’s work. Work 73-12A –black kanji on white—came out first in 1973 and was followed quickly by a black dragon on red (which follows this one on this site). It measures 11.5inW x 15.25inH, is 16 of an edition of 103, and is in good condition

The drawing is by ROY WILLIAMS (1907-1976, who was inducted as a "Disney legend" posthumously in 1992. He was a Disney animator, who worked as director, producer, storyboard and layout artist. Pencil signed limited edition print "Watering Hole", circa 1970's, by the important Western American artist OLAF WIEGHORST (1899-1988). The print measures 21" by 26" and 30" by 35" framed in grayish wood. It is numbered 364/1500 at lower left margin and the artist has signed it in soft pencil at lower right. Wieghorst's works sell at major auctions of western American art, into the hundreds of thousands. Rumor has it that his "Navajo Madonna" masterpiece sold privately for $1.5 million...

Oil on board Currier and Ives style winter landscape viewed from birds eye perspective, 18 1/2" by 24 1/2", 23" by 28 1/4" framed, unsigned, circa 1900, or possibly even earlier, painted in a primitive hand. The painting is charming and a definite folk art piece. Note the glowing windows of the inviting church on this winter day, there are two figures at left that look positively Dickensian, and the sled and figures show good detail...

Poem 70-19 is one of the fairly small group of deep blue prints that Maki made. This one is 5.75 in W x 8.5in H and created in 1970. It is in good condition, with some toning due to its once having been framed.

A PAIR of Mid Century watercolor paintings of central Paris (guaranteed original work, not prints), one featuring the Arc de Triomphe and environs "(L'Etoile"), the other a peaceful view of the quai along the Seine River. A beautifully painted watercolor titled on reverse backing "After the Storm/Point Vicente" painted in 1998 by the noted California illustrator artist BOB DOUGHTY (1924-2011).
