19th Century American School 1800-1899 American Artists This is an original oil on canvas painting of an Ox and Cart coming down the road. The painting has 3 intials lower right, they seem to read: "W. ?. S." Weve been unable to make out who the artist was. We feel the painting is from the late 1890's and is most likely American in origin. The painting was expertly done. The canvas laid on board measures 19X13 inches and is in a 19th century gilt frame.

An antique 19th-century Russian Orthodox icon depicts the most central event in Christianity, the Nativity of our Lord Christ.

The icon is finely hand-painted in bright colors and gold on gesso on a wood panel. It depicts Baby Jesus laying in the cradle in a manger wrapped in swaddling clothes, with a Bethlehem star shining from above, flanked by the Virgin Mary and St Joseph.

Large folio size print, sheet measuring 18 1/4" by 24 1/2" inside the mat, 27 1/4" by 33 1/2" as framed, titled at bottom. This image was produced by Currier in 1868, but I believe this example to be a high quality hand colored RESTRIKE of a later date. It's a great image, with grandparents in their snug Victorian 1860's New England interior, a roaring fire and their granddaughter indicating the other seasons of life. A beautiful miniature portrait of a young man, done by William Egley. The painting is in a stickpin mounted elaborate gold case, with engraving on the reverse identifying the sitter as "John McDonnell Webb/August 1839". A plait of hair is in the glazed rear aperture.

Both the painting and case are in excellent condition, with no issues. The spots in the photos are due to external dust. Sight size is 1 5/8" by 1 1/4", with an overall size of 2" by 1 5/8".
