Acquired as one of a number of works by late Bozeman, Montana artist MARION "MAL" LEWIS (1925-2010), this is a fine collage work, undated, titled "Silhouette Collage" on original accompanying sticker, not framed (just matted), likely from late in the artist's life. While traveling through Montana I came upon a group of mostly collage, abstract works by this artist, though there is at least one non-abstract work, a New Mexico drawing, that I will be listing...

UNKNOWN DIVINITY

Mysterious pottery seated image of such an unknown noble character in the pose of gassho (worship with folded hands) with unidentified engravings at the back. Acquired from a Japanese antique dealer but totally its detail unknown, though very fascinating somehow. H 11 x 7.5 x 4 cm (4.33 x 2.95 x 1.57 in)...

There are some who frame these sculptural hand hammered hand built ceramic clay pieces in a shadow box to hang on their walls.
In a USA studio when the sterling was hand worked and the clay was hand built, it resulted in this studio signed modernist tradition sculpture or neck ring and the kinetic removable pendant to which the semiprecious gemstones of mookaite and red coral were wired in place...

Pencil with white highlight drawing on brown paper, 9 1/2" by 15 3/4" (17" by 23" framed), the subject a number of different types of boats along a dramatic coast, possibly Whitby, England, circa 1860, signed at extreme lower left corner in pencil "Fowler". The drawing, which is laid on a thin board, features various types of sailing craft, and, in the foreground, a rowboat. A castle like structure crowns the prominent hill...

Contemporary pencil and watercolor drawing in simple metal gold framing, the subject two women apparently dancing in a late 19th century cafe, the drawing 8 1/2" by 5 1/4" inside the mat (the entire sheet significantly larger, at 11 3/4" by 8 1/4"), signed at lower right "Dan" or "Han" or similar. The scene reminds of George Grosz' 1920's drawings of Berlin cafe goers, or even Toulouse Lautrec's Parisian cafe's. The drawing is nicely crafted.

The drawing features a scene from the Crimean War (1854)...

Indonesian drawing of three seated figures conversing at a marketplace, three white chickens offered up for sale, painted circa late 1950's or early 1960's I believe, apparently unsigned, 12" by 16 1/4" inside the mat, 17" by 21 1/4" as framed. There is an old Rotterdam, Netherlands framer's sticker on the reverse. The art somewhat reminds of the work of the important Dutch/Indonesian master artist Rudolf Bonnet (1895-1978) but I do not believe the work by him...

This is a most interesting assemblage, of ceramic, paint, photographs and other materials, 16" by 24", unframed, signed at lower right and in two places on the stretcher and dated 2005 by the noted Belgium-born, California contemporary artist SIMONE GAD (1947-2021). Gad attended Los Angeles colleges in the mid 1960's and by the early 1970's was already becoming an active exhibitor in galleries and other art venues...

By the important Australian aboriginal artist MICK KUBARKKU, 1922-2008 (often misspelled in various ways as "Gubargu", "Gobargu", etc.) is this circa late 1960's/early 1970's natural earth pigment on eucalyptus bark painting of a barramundi fish in typical stylized form, measuring 11" by 20". Louis-Auguste-Mathieu Legrand (b.1863-d.1951) Original mixed media of gouache, etching, collage, and ink drawing of a French can can dancer c. 1900 signed lower left. Louis Legrand was an important artist of the Belle Epoque in France in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He trained at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Dijon and in 1884 moved to Paris.
