Watercolor and ink on paper painting of a large mature tree in a landscape, 14" by 18" inside the mat, 22" by 25" overall in contemporary pleasant gold framing, titled at lower right "HORTUS LEIDEN GLINGKO TREE/RAPHAEL". The work is by the hand of the important impressionist painter JOSEPH MORRIS RAPHAEL (1869-1950). Raphael was born in Jackson, California, in the so-called Gold Country, but spent a lot of his time in the Low Countries of Europe, so both artistic communities "claim" him...
There are some who frame these sculptural hand hammered hand built ceramic clay pieces in a shadow box to hang on their walls.
In a USA studio when the sterling was hand worked and the clay was hand built, it resulted in this studio signed modernist tradition sculpture or neck ring and the kinetic removable pendant to which the semiprecious gemstones of mookaite and red coral were wired in place...
This one is certainly a challenge to describe----but I will give it a go. A mixed media (watercolor, gouache, pastel and gold metallic paint mix) painting, the subject a fantastic, surreal, dream-like scene including a supine male figure with ants on his chest, leopard-like creature, moth, skulls, green, opportunistic poisonous-looking tropical style snake emerging from a woman's body, and bat hanging upside down! The piece is an impressive size at 29 1/2" by 22" (34 1/2" by 27" framed)...
A rare and unique carved Elephant in Russian Jade from the Ming Dynasty measuring 5 x 8 3/4“. Spinach color Jade was the only Jade used until the Qing Dynasty’s. Please view lot number 1227 and 1228 for similar objects
Watercolor and ink marker drawing of Greek buildings by dark blue sea, a boat at right, signed at lower left with signature that appears as "Bremmer". I think this was likely created by an American artist, perhaps painting while on vacation in the Mediterranean. I'd date it as maybe 1980's. It is a pleasant and decorative work that should evoke memories of vacations in the Greek Islands; this could very likely be a view of famous Santorini. Condition is excellent...
This very well carved contemporary snuff bottle is 2 ½” high, 1 5/8” wide and 1” thick. The lighter part was carved as the body of the bottle and darker part was carved into a praying mantis resting on a cucumber. The workmanship is precise and clear. It is well hollowed, polished and in great condition.
MEDIA: Inside Painting Snuff Bottle
SIZE: H: 3 inches
ARTIST: Yu Wen (Guanyu Art Studio)
The size of work: 12 3/4 x 9 7/8. This is another small Zeka’s work with more abstract forms than other one.
This work also has other drawing form on darker area They are intentionally painted with different tone pigment.
Again, it is very interesting. It is pained with black paint on Aquarellpappe (thick Wator color paper board)...
Framed Water Color with a carved stone miniature.
Old ink and watercolor drawing of early 19th century men and a boy pictured in an English interior, executed probably early years of the 20th century, signed "O. Krause" and also bearing the word "Copy", 6 1/2" by 6" inside the opening in black glass eglomise style "mat", 10 1/4" by 9" as it was originally framed. The drawing seems to me to be after perhaps an original illustration in a Charles Dickens (or other English author of the period) book...

Old watercolor drawing (perhaps charcoal in places as well) with slight use of white gouache, unsigned, the subject a younger man of the sixteenth century or thereabouts. The drawing (15 1/2" by 12") is on grayish heavy paper (the true color is indicated by the first two images---the subsequent ones were taken in different light, suggesting a more tan color). The age of the drawing itself is especially difficult to determine in this instance...
Red Grooms original art for Parque Central Caracas, Museo de Contemporaneo (study for the poster) on paper mounted to hard board. Original mixed media ink crayon watercolor, pin holes loss dirt near yellow glove. Not perfect condition but an original from a great artist for the cost of a graphic. Drawing in blue ink and watercolor, 14" by 11", in an inexpensive temporary protective frame, unsigned, a second drawing of a female head on the reverse. Judging from the appearance, hairstyle, this probably dates to before World War II. The anonymous artist created an interesting study with skilled use of shadow and line. Allow for a few reflections in the image, appearing as a dark shadow in a few images...
Watercolor drawing on paper of two figures with a distant building that resembles a mosque, measuring 8 1/8" by 6 3/8" (21 1/4" by 17" as presently framed), not signed but bears reverse notation by Elizabeth R. Anshutz, the artist's daughter in law, and stickers from Christie's New York indicating that this was offered in the sale of November 19, 1991, and, more recently, Skinners...
Chinese Watercolor and Ink painting Nude couple 21x26”
By Chinese artist
Acquired as one of a number of works by late Bozeman, Montana artist MARION "MAL" LEWIS (1925-2010), this is a fine collage work, undated, titled "Moonlit Night" on original sticker, not framed (just matted), likely from late in the artist's life. While traveling through Montana I came upon a group of mostly collage, abstract works by this artist, though there is at least one non-abstract work, a New Mexico drawing, that I will be listing. This measures 10" by 18 3/4" inside the present mat...
A striking watercolor and gouache painting of a black cat lounging amidst lily family garden flowers, 8 1/2" by 13 1/4" (18" by 22" as framed), signed at lower left by the noted New Mexico-associated artist AGNES GABRIELLE TAIT (1894-1981). Cats were a favorite subject of the artist, and collectors seek out those works specifically. Tait was born in New York City, and studied art there and in Europe (especially lithography)...
