A circa 1960's or early 1970's mixed media collage painting of a "Big Eyed" girl and her doll, painted in his usual whimsical fashion, by the French mid century impressionist artist ROGER ETIENNE (1922-2011). The painting (23 1/4" by 17 1/2", and 29 1/4" by 23 1/4" as framed) is signed at lower right "Rousseau", but this fools no one; it is clearly by the artist Roger Etienne. Why he chose to use a pen name on this particular example will remain an unknown...

This is a very decorative item of impressive size for your Southwest style home: a gouache painting on cloth, roughly square at 30 1/8" by 30 7/8" plus about 3 1/2" on a side of frame and undermat......no signature that I can see but it reminds me of the popular "yeibichai" weavings of the Navajo and Hopi Southwest. The condition is excellent and this is ready for the wall. Allow for reflections in the glass.

This is a work of the talented, interesting artist GREGOIRE MICHONZE (known early in life as Michonznic). The artist has displayed his mastery of line as his flickering pen created a work that is possibly a study but which is complete in and of itself...

For the collector of marine or maritime art and antiques, a color drawing, 12" by 28" with simple 3/4" wood frame, depicting what appears to be a ferry boat of the first part of the century. There's an initial signature at lower right that looks like "HWS" or "AWS". The work is a multi-media piece; it appears that pencil, colored pencil, pastel and even white gouache were part of the mix. The tan paper is thin almost tissue like; it is wrinkled in many spots (see photos)...

This work has the feel of illustration art, and well it should as FREDERIC KIMBALL MIZEN (1888-1964) was a noted illustration artist, having done covers for the Saturday Evening Post. This appears to be an image in gouache on top of some kind of waxy scratchboard, measuring 10" by 14" (17" by 20 3/4" as framed), signed at lower left "DE GUST" and dated there "59". I can't find a listing for the artist but he or she painted in a classic style pioneered by the likes of Jean Le Mayeur and others in the history of modern Indonesian art. The painting is in excellent condition, and is ready for the wall in its simple black frame and clean mat.

This work on black paper, sandwiched between two sheets of glass and framed like that, floating, in the style of the times, is a mixed media piece (oil pastel possibly), featuring anthropomorphic forms. It is signed at lower left in pencil "Mirko" and dated there '58. The artist, MIRKO BASALDELLA (1910-1969) is mentioned online as one of the most significant Italian sculptors of the 20th century...

A watercolor and gouache painting of a creek lined by mature white birch trees, 14 1/2" by 21 1/2" in its thin strip frame, the work signed at lower left "A. ABRAMS". The eastern artist Raphael Senseman of New Jersey painted in much this same style, so much so that one is tempted to think that "A. Abrams" could be a pen name. The watercolor is fresh and in excellent condition.
