This Limoges cider, milk or lemonade pitcher is hand painted in a popular Art Nouveau motif with blooming flowers and green lily pads. Lots of very sophisticated gold on this piece make it attractive. 8" tall. It is Hallmarked with the William Guerin French porcelain factory mark #3 in green underglaze white ware with "Limoges" and "France". Ca 1900-1932 . This porcelain plate was produced in Germany by the Royal Berlin Porcelain Manufactory or KPM in 1925. The date letter indicates this year. The plate has a diameter of 9 ¾”. It has a finely reticulated border, all outlined with gold. The center of the plate is hand painted with a scene of the 13th century fortress at Godesberg, Germany. A classic Art Deco porcelain water jug advertising Ricard Anisette. In the south of France, tradition dictates that Ricard and other anise-flavored spirits be drunk with a side of water. Makers such as Ricard and Pernod provided advertising pitchers to local bars to increase their sales. This globe form is the classic shape from the first half of the 20th century. The bottom is marked “Ateliers de Céramique Ricard/Made in France”.
