This wonderful 1940's, Mexican necklace consists of decorative, linked hearts that meet to form a pendant of 3 hearts with a central cone-shaped ornament. The hearts have a lovely, foliate, stamped, raised design complimented by a small, bezel set, turquoise cabochon (in different shades of blue and green). The necklace is 20” long. Each heart measures 5/8” x 5/8” (at its longest and widest). The central pendant, marked “MEXICO SILVER” on the back, measures 2” x 1 3/8”...
An early Taxco treasure, this Mexican Deco cuff bracelet is both generous in weight and wrought in fine, .980 silver. The design is classic for the period and I have seen all-silver versions of it over the years by anonymous and recognizable names, that of Emma and La Cucaracha being among the most famous. The marriage of silver and copper that we are treated to here, however, I have never encountered before...
A carefully crafted copy of one of Hubert Harmon's Mexican designs, this fabulous sterling silver and amethyst belt buckle is anonymous yet, as quite often is the case, the lack of a signature does not affect the piece's quality and beauty. Based on the workmanship I suspect this may be a Casa Maya example. Casa Maya issued many of Harmon's designs in brass primarily yet they did make them in sterling as well and quite often pieces in their parures went out in the marked without full hallmarks...
With hallmarks dating 1940-1945, this spectacular bracelet is a very rare and early creation from Los Castillo.
It's a huge showpiece, with six rectangular faceted amethyst gemstone surrounded by tiny silver beading. The amethysts are great old Mexican stones, well matched in color, with quartz marbling and natural inclusions.
Measures a closed, wearable length of 6 1/2", with a width of 1 9/16"...
Too cute! This vintage pair of sterling silver toggle back chain link cufflinks feature transfer printed Westie dogs on a black ground, framed in silver. Marked 925, Mid Century. Measures 3/4 in diameter, 3/4 in chain. Excellent condition (shadows cast on face from lighting).
Maestro Rivera, known for his high quality creations in Matilde Poulat's "jeweled" style, is the silversmith signing this stunning Mexican Deco bracelet. Carefully wrought silver-work with beading, hand-hammering and twist-rope details is studded with pyramid- and emerald-cut amethysts as well as coral and turquoise little cabs...
Circa 1940's, here is a seldom seen pin from noted Taxco designer Hubert Harmon. Harmon was active for a short time, and this Neptune pin is signed and hallmarked with his winged feet and Hubert Harmon marks dating likely 1942-1948.
It's a stunning whimsical pin with Neptune holding his pitchfork, seating upon a large fish with an amethyst cabochon eye. The repoussé silver work is superb...
A particularly fine gentleman’s ring in 14K yellow gold, the top set with alternating round cut rubies and brilliant round cut diamonds in star settings. Gypsy-set rings were first popular in the Victorian era, but reappeared in the 1930s and 40s, sometimes with the addition of star settings. The rubies are natural, without evidence of treatment, and are color-graded as medium dark slightly brownish strongly purplish-red (stpR 6/2) and clarity-graded as eye-clean. The diamonds are H/VS1...
Rare early vintage Joseff of Hollywood heavy double chain Byzantine or Etruscan revival ornate necklace in dark antiqued goldtone metal with hook clasp. 1940s. Marked JOSEFF HOLLYWOOD. Joseff jewelry was designed and made for costuming in top Hollywood movies in the 30s through the 60s, and also sold to consumers in exclusive stores such as Nieman Marcus...
Exuding a primordial strength and keeping its secrets well hidden under layers of hand-etched scales, beading and overlay this stunning creature - I see it as a sea serpent but on second thought and if those appliques running along its spine are stylized feathers, it could be Quetzalcoatl as easily - is another treasure bearing the signature of Doris and her Corpus Artisans group of maestros...
Fabulous vintage bib necklace which is most likely a Frank Hess design for Miriam Haskell, from the 1930s or 1940s.
With graduated sizes of beautiful solid glass dark blue beads in lily form, mounted on chains in a characteristic Hess for
Haskell style, and with long dimensional brass leaves. The color is warmer than the photos depict. Slide clasp. 16 inches wearable length. The
center drops 3 1/2 inches. Excellent condition. Photos enlarged to show detail.
I always preface Jose Luis Flores's jewelry by saying that, in my opinion, he was one of the most talented Taxco maestros during the town's heyday. His creations are usually modernist re-interpretations of ancient Meso-american motifs, always dynamic and quite often magnificently layered...
$2,600 Circa 1940-1944, this bracelet is known as "Petate", and is one of Spratling's heaviest and most elusive designs.

Measures 2 1/8" tall in front. Closed, wearable length is 6 3/4". Closes with a pin.
Weight is 126.5 grams.
Signed and hallmarked "Spratling Silver, Made in Mexico". Tested to be 98% purity.
In excellent vintage condition.
When I first started my love-affair with vintage Mexican silver jewelry, I found myself intrigued by the work of artists whose names were not among the first ones a new collector would focus on. I love a challenge and seeking out “less celebrated” maestros who nevertheless created superbly crafted jewelry in imaginative designs became my “mission”...
An early Los Castillo design and very much in keeping with the 1940s' love for sweeping flourishes this set of earrings, carefully hand-cut, overlaid and oxidized will add just the right amount of festive spirit to your outfit. Bold and confident, the swirls seem to twist upon themselves in excitement and then reach high up for the skies with abandonment. Got to love the Los Castillo and the myriad ways in which they still make our day...

A classic pair of French 18K yellow gold cufflinks in a variation of the "mors de filet" or "snaffle" design originally created for Hermès by Gaetan de Percin. Each of the flip-up ends is pierced in a diamond-cut design. De Percin's design was very popular and served as the basis for a number of closely related designs. These cufflinks are stamped with French 18K marks, an unidentified goldsmith’s mark and the notation for "breveté", indicating that the design was patented.
