This is the original cartoon art (5" by 16 3/4") for the daily strip of June 26, year unknown, by well known figure in American cartoon art, MERRILL BLOSSER (1892-1983). Blosser drew the comic strip for over 50 years, from 1915 to 1965. He started professionally in 1912 at the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts, worked for Motor Cycling Magazine, and contributed to Denton Publishing in Cleveland...

Artistic, soft-focus photograph of two sailing vessels, titled in pencil at left margin "Gray Dawn", and signed at lower right margin by the noted Nova Scotia, Canada photographer WALLACE R. MacASKILL (1887-1956). This well-known image, in the Pictorialist tradition in which MacAskill was taught, dates to the year 1921. It is in soft-focus, an impressionist technique which values atmosphere over realistic accuracy. Note three white spots at upper left...

A vintage early 20th century photography of a dirt road bordered by thick vegetation, with hand coloring applied to the trees and elsewhere, signed and blind stamped at lower right by the noted pioneering Oregon coastal photographer, FRANK WOODFIELD (1879-1955). The piece measures 9" by 11" in its circa 1920's frame. Impressionist small contemporary painting of a knoll in sunlight and shadow, 8" by 10", unframed, unsigned. This is a quickly executed work, almost a sketch in oil, by an anonymous but skilled artist. It is in excellent condition. The regular size would facilitate buying a suitable frame at a modest price.

A pair of old prints in color---I believe, some sort of lithography process similar to chromolithography in feeling, one featuring the Notre Dame cathedral in Paris, the other the Second Empire "Pont au Change" bridge connecting the Ile de la Cite to the Rive Droite. The current bridge was rebuilt between 1856 and 1860 and therefore bears the letter N, the imperial insignia of Napoleon III. It is composed of three 31 meter long arches and is 30 meters wide...

Oil on canvasboard painting of red tulips in a bright yellow vase on a tabletop, two apricots or peaches at lower left, unsigned, in a gold frame in wall-ready condition. This is likely by the hand of a talented amateur painter, but it all "works", with bright attractive colors and a clean overall appearance. The entire work as framed measures 16 1/2" by 13 1/2". Unsigned acrylic/oil portrait of a woman worker acquired from a Hong Kong auction. I am assuming this was painted while China and Russia were still friends so would date this pre 1960. Good example of Socialist Realism (girl meets tractor) kitsch, W: 35cm/13.8in and H: 45.cm/17.8in.

Small oil on canvas laid on board painting of a man in traditional outfit with distinctive hat. The mid 20th century work is signed illegibly at lower left corner. This would appear to be from Ecuador, or if not there, another Andean nation such as Peru or Bolivia. Measurements are 4" by 3 1/2" (7 1/2" by 7 1/4" as framed, with blue velvet liner). An interesting addition to a small wall or nook.
