It's a work of a self-taught (and likely suburban California) painter named Jan Friedman, I was able to determine by comparing it to other works with which it was found, the other ones bearing her full name...

A collage work in mixed media, by the Los Angeles-area artist IRWIN BROWN (1928-2020), the subject a religious Jew in traditional clothing, holding a Jewish newspaper with prominent Hebrew characters. The work is an impressive mix of techniques----the base image is actually a dot print; but over that, the artist has used acrylic paint, gauze, ink, and heavy gloss varnish to create an original and unique work. Measurements as framed 15" by 15"...

A colorful Haitian painting on canvas, 17 1/4" by 25 1/4" as framed, signed lower left by artist "Teddy C." or "J. Eddy.C.", the scene a typical coastal village of small colorful dwellings, with small boats offshore and three total figures, one on horseback. There is a small hole about 1/2" square at lower right as shown. It can no doubt be minimized with some tape applied to the reverse side. See other Haitian paintings in my shop.

A typically colorful painting from Haiti, featuring female figures carrying loads of fruit on baskets balanced on their heads, against a mysterious deep green background landscape. The painting is signed at lower right "Xavier B./Haiti/2000". Measurements are 25" by 21" as framed in white wood. Canvas is slightly rippled, there are a few hairline crack marks in the legs of several figures, but nothing that is bothersome at normal viewing distance...

Likely painted for the southern tourist trade between about 1920 and 1950 or so, is this oil on a slice of palmetto wood, roughly oval shape, approximate dimensions 10" by 13", the slab 1" thick, signed at bottom left in the image "A. Donhauser". This locale could be anywhere from Texas through Georgia, given the Spanish Moss on the tree. The palmetto slab is unusual and adds interest. An unusual item. There is a small loss on the tree trunk.

Small oil on canvas laid on board painting of a man in traditional outfit with distinctive hat. The mid 20th century work is signed illegibly at lower left corner. This would appear to be from Ecuador, or if not there, another Andean nation such as Peru or Bolivia. Measurements are 4" by 3 1/2" (7 1/2" by 7 1/4" as framed, with blue velvet liner). An interesting addition to a small wall or nook.

Unsigned acrylic/oil portrait of a woman worker acquired from a Hong Kong auction. I am assuming this was painted while China and Russia were still friends so would date this pre 1960. Good example of Socialist Realism (girl meets tractor) kitsch, W: 35cm/13.8in and H: 45.cm/17.8in.

A rare print by surrealist print maker Ozaku Seishi, professor emeritus from Tama Art University. He is best known for small edition prints, usually up to 30 copies, limitless experimentation with printing techniques and surrealist, often graphic imagery resembling distorted reality ¬neither quite explicit nor quite horror, but rendering a fairly dark version of dreams. This aquatint is from a 1974 portfolio titled “World of Children” (子どもの世界), which consisted of 30 aquatints...

Watercolor on paper painting of a large sailboat off a lighthouse at the coast, some industrial looking electrical towers completing the scene, 9 3/4" by 13 1/2" inside the mat, 16 1/2" by 21" framed, signed "DNadson" or similar at lower right. This is well painted by a skilled but unidentified artist. Found in Los Angeles. Condition is excellent.

Pencil signed at lower right, numbered 201/250 at lower left, is this circa 1975 modern print by the noted listed Israeli-born (Haifa), French artist who also worked in America, NISSAN ENGEL (1931-). The work measures 20" by 15" in its silvery metallic framing. The colors do not seem to be faded, though there is rippling in the paper visible in most of the margins, likely from exposure to a damp environment. There is no mold however...

A pair of pencil signed color reproduction prints of classic wildflowers of Colorado, identically framed and of the same size, 10 1/2" by 8 1/2" as framed, both signed in pencil by the artist at lower right margin, and titled at left "Colorado Columbine" and "Wood Lily". Byxbe is a popular artist closely associated with Colorado's high country. Born in Illinois, he was showed early talent, studying etching in Nebraska. By 1938 he had moved to Estes Park, Colorado...
