**PAIR** color offset prints after two Southwest landscape paintings by the noted artist ED MELL (1942-), each laid on artboard and measuring 24" by 36". They were found in brown metal frames with no mat; frames available with the prints at no extra charge should the buyer want them. The prints show slight evidence of the edges perhaps being slightly trimmed, and there are some light scratches and small losses at extreme edges on one print as shown...

From the 1720's book "Oud en Nieuw Oost-Indiën ..." by naturalist, minister and early day traveler François Valentyn/Valentijn, a horizontal format, large unframed antique engraving, 13 1/2" by 31", titled at top "Amboina" (Ambon Island and town, in the far eastern reaches of present day Indonesia), engraved by F. Ottens (possibly, Frederik Ottens). This was an active Dutch missionary site in the Moluccas, famed for exotic spices...

An example of the 1960's poster by the prestigious Galerie Berggruen in Paris, printed on the occasion of the exhibition of works by Paul Klee and Wassily Kandinsky. The work pictured is Klee's 1930 watercolor "Spectre d'un Guerrier". The poster, printed by Jacomet, Paris, measures 27 1/2" by 19 1/2", and is in a silvery metal frame at present. The gray and light washy blue and silver and black make an elegant modern statement. Condition appears excellent (not examined out of frame)...

As suggested by the contradictory title "colorful vintage folk art painting....by Brazilian modernist", this is a very unusual, difficult-to-describe, interesting oil on canvas painting of Christ on the cross, the background a complex mix of bright primary color and modernist forms, signed at lower right by artist "Edelweiss". On the stretcher is written apparently in Portuguese, "Cobia alada da guita" or similar, along with the original $1520 USD price...

A very old watercolor painting of a barefoot young man with traditional clothing and conical hat, unframed, 7" by 3", unsigned, dating to the mid 19th century. It could be by a local artist of the China Trade School, or perhaps by one of the rare expatriate artists who visited the region, on the order of George Chinnery. Without a signature we cannot be sure of its authorship, but it is clearly antique...

Lovely impressionist oil painting of trees bordering a small river or lake, painted on canvas, 22" by 18" (26" by 21 1/2" framed), signed at lower right "Michael Kawasaki", and signed again on the reverse and dated there 1997. I have not located information on the obviously talented and trained artist. The work's impressionistic brushstrokes, the handling of light and color, is just fabulous, reminiscent of the French impressionists of the late 19th century...

A vintage still life oil painting of flowers in a white vase against a dark background space, 24" by 18", 32" by 25" as framed, signed at lower right by listed Southern California artist BERTHA TOWNSEND COLER (1865-1948). Coler was born in Ohio and studied with Robert Henri and William Merritt Chase in New York City...

A watercolor painting in shades of brown, the subject a pensive Native American male in traditional Plains garb, holding a stick with feathers, the work signed at lower right with initials "JM" for James Michaels of Palm Harbor, Florida. The unframed piece, photographed inside the protective shrink wrap in which it was purchased, measures 12" by 8 1/2" and there is a 3" wide mat. The style and subject matter reminds of noted early 20th century artist Edgar Paxson.

A pleasing watercolor painting of small boats in a coastal landscape in England, 10" by 14 3/4" (13" by 17 3/4" framed), signed at lower right twice, by listed English artist JOHN MORTIMER. Mortimer painted watercolors in Cornwall, Devon, Sussex, and other parts of the British Isles. The work is in excellent condition. Old backing has a print of a landscape. Allow for reflections in a few photos.

RUDDER, further titled "Mountains" on reverse where there is a label of the 1989 Artists Guild of the Norton Gallery Fifth Annual Exhibition (probably West Palm Beach, Florida), providing the artist's name, and the original price of $500. The painting is created primarily with palette knife, the paint richly and generously applied...

Painting of two children hugging tenderly, 24" by 20", unframed, signed at upper left by the noted Brazil-California 20th century artist OZZ FRANCA (1928-1991). Franca is perhaps best known for his paintings of Native American women, and "Big Eye" children, but he also painted a wide range of other subject matter. The Askart listing says he painted, among other subjects, fantasy, dreams/mystery, female figure, still life, cityscapes, seascapes, and pure abstraction...

An example of the work of famous, prolific, commercially successful American illustrator artist, ROBERT ATKINSON FOX (1860-1935), this image featuring a garden fountain in its elegant surroundings. The print measures 21 1/2" by 13 1/2" (28 1/2" by 20" nicely framed in lustrous faux burl look, with pink mat). Fox was born in Toronto and arrived in the United States around 1885. He worked for publishers such as Brown and Bigelow, Edward Gross & Co...

A fine Old Master drawing in pencil and red chalk on laid paper, measuring 6" by 3 3/4" inside the mat (16 1/4" by 14 1/2" in modern day framing), unsigned, but with accompanying information, a circa 1970 typed label, proclaiming this to be "Lady with Jug", and by listed English late 18th century/early 19th century artist PRINCE HOARE II (1755-1834). There is also nearby an "18 Gns" price (18 Guineas)...
