Ink on paper, double-sided drawing of cowboys and their horses, 7 7/8" by 10 1/4" inside the present mat (13" by 16" as framed), unsigned, but acquired in Yucca Valley from close friends of the artist who obtained much of his work after his 2005 passing. This is a vigorous and spontaneous work by an obviously very talented artist of the American west. Colt's works have been sold at Bonhams auctions of California art, and Santa Fe dealers offer his work alongside the best of western artists...

W.T. Carlsen Danish born Canadian Artist who work in Canada and Scandinavia. Known for his rich harbor scenes. This work dates from the 1970s and is done from his memory of Denmark. The work is oil on panel and measures 24 x 24“, and is framed in a beautiful 1970s era drift wood frame measuring 32 x 32“

A work over forty years old but very contemporary and stylish in feeling, a watercolor of young female bicycle riders at the beach perhaps, 14" by 21" (23" by 29" framed), signed at lower right by well listed California artist DOUGLASS EWELL PARSHALL (1899-1990). The work is also titled "CYCLISTS" on backing, where the artist has signed again, dated it 1972, and wrote address and, on an affixed sheet, "For West Coast Watercolor Soc'y"...

Oil on board, likely Canadian painting of a curling scene on a large ice rink with a large number of spectators and players, painted very competently in a very charming folk-art style, signed at lower right "S. S. Heath" and dated there 1973. The work reminds a bit of the whimsical folky Canadian paintings of Allen Sapp or William Kurelek. Suprisingly, I see absolutely no information or auction record for any artist of this name. The work measures 16" by 20" and 20" by 24" as framed...

A large oil on canvas, 36" by 24" (44" by 32" framed), the subject a number of circus clowns, skillfully painted, signed at lower right by noted American clown artist ROBERT OWEN (1930-). Owen was born in Polk County, Missouri. For many years he has been recognized as a master at painting clowns. Reproduction prints have been made from many paintings. This example is in excellent condition. Note also the interesting framing.

A small unframed oil on Masonite painting, 8" by 10", signed at lower left indecipherably, the work a fantasy landscape painted very much in the style of acclaimed California artist Eyvind Earle (1916-2000). The neon green sunlit strip, the surreal shadows cast by rocks there, the bare tree, the hillside, all are reminiscent of Earle's work. A silvery frame might work on this. Surface is a bit dusty, and heavily varnished. There are some very light drips of something at right center.

Watercolors on paper, each 6 1/4" by 4 1/4" inside the mats (11" by 9" overall, unframed), each signed at bottom center with the distinctive signature of California Scene artist JAKE LEE. These paintings appear to be studies of spring flowers like jonquils and perhaps asters. Jake Lee's works are increasingly sought after by collectors in the wake of his relatively recent passing. These works are clean examples in excellent condition. They should likely receive clean new mats before framing...

Poem 70-10 is the kanji for day 日. It is a striking, simply executed print. Created in 1970, it is now over a half-century old. The print is 17.5in W x 24.5in H, large (but not huge). As Daniel Tretiak has said: In 1970 quite suddenly Haku Maki started producing truly large prints. He tells us that this one was large but Maki was destined to do even larger ones, that year and in 1973.

A most interesting Mid-Century, as late as 1980's perhaps, multiple: a so-called "cast stencil", "cast paper", or "relief" print, therefore three dimensional, featuring a grid pattern of elongated shapes, with air brush paint application on the striking blue and red sections, signed at lower right in pencil and numbered 34/250 in pencil at lower left by noted Arkansas-associated artist PAUL MAXWELL (1925-2015). This is typical imagery by the artist and sculptor...
