This is a large work of art in delicate condition, 26" by 54" and 3" wide frame, so, I am seeking a local (Southern California) buyer who can pick it up. The painting, of a tropical coast with palms, decorative boats, and numerous figures, is well painted in an impressionistic manner, and is signed "M. H. Liu" at lower right in red and dated there 1967. A search of this name has not produced any listings...

A small unframed watercolor painting of an early adobe structure of Northern California, similar to the historical, rare structures that may be seen today around the plaza in Sonoma, 7" by 9 1/2", signed at lower right by listed artist JEAN G. WALFORD (1875-1938). Walford was born in England, but was in Berkeley by 1917. She ran an art gallery until her passing in 1938. The watercolor came from an old Bay Area collection.

PAIR of framed Paris scenes on board, one showing Notre Dame and the Seine, the other a street scene with a 1930's car and figures, each signed "Montal" at lower right. I would guess these are tourist pieces in the Montmartre painters tradition, probably dating to the 1950's or so. At 13 1/2" by 7 1/2" framed they are identical in size, and they are framed identically as well, though there is wear to each frame, showing as gold areas against a darker background...

Clark", the subject given on the framing label as "On the Arun--Sussex". This is a painting by SAMUEL JOSEPH CLARK (1841-1928), a noted 19th century painter of rural landscapes and genre. Sometimes he is listed as Samuel JAMES Clark--there appears to be some confusion in the auction record...

The unframed work measures 16" by 20" and is signed at lower right by artist KAROLY SINKA (1934-) The style is very reminiscent of Hungarian painter Laszlo Neogrady (1896-1962) and also of Hungarian painter Dande (1911-)...

Oil on canvasboard painting of Paris Montmartre section, the dome of famous Sacre Coeur looming white in the distance above the rooftops, signed lower left "Michel" and dated there 1960. The work measures 24" by 18" (27" by 21" in simple white wood framing). The piece has beautiful depth and a balanced satisfying palette of colors. Condition is excellent.

In the style of popular Thomas Kinkade or Marty Bell, this is an original oil on canvas, 11" by 14" (17" by 20" framed), the subject a cozy cottage-like house set in a flowering garden, the welcoming lights all on. The painting is signed at lower left "N LaFond". If you enjoy the Kinkade style but would like an original work instead of a print, you may well like this piece. Condition is excellent, frame has a little wear.

An early 20th century watercolor painting of small structures on a coastline, likely Maine, but most certainly New England, signed at lower left corner by listed English-born, American artist SIDNEY THOMAS CALLOWHILL (1867-1939). Callowhill was born in Worcester, England and was in America by 1885. He worked at the Faience Manufacturing Company for a time, ultimately living for periods in Brooklyn, Baltimore and Boston...

An oil on panel painting of a red covered bridge in a mountain landscape, a village at left center, 13" by 19 1/2" (16" by 22" framed), signed at lower right by artist Ed Mifflin. I do not see a listing for this name. The scene likely shows Vermont or Maine; possibly there are covered bridges in hilly southern Ohio that might fit. In any event the circa 1960 work is very poetic...

Poignant early handmade drawing of pink and white flowers (lilies of the valley and?) painted in gouache within an oval set off by golden mat, the words "BIRTHDAY GREETINGS FROM YOUR LOVING DAUGHTER ALICE" around the central image. This is a work by highly regarded American artist THOMAS WILLOUGHBY NASON (1889-1971), titled in pencil "Rockport" at lower left and signed at lower right "TWNason (M.W.N.)". This would appear to be a posthumous signature by a relative after the artist's death. This example measures 4 1/4" by 6 1/4" inside the mat and 11 1/4" by 13 1/4" framed. The print appears to be in generally good condition with some scattered foxing, especially in the margin area...

An unframed oil on canvas landscape, 12 3/4" by 16", the subject a large lake in high country, a distant mountain in the background and tall spruce-type trees at left along the rocky shore. I have searched diligently for a signature and cannot find one, which is frustrating, as the work is certainly good enough to have been executed by a listed artist. The canvas was laid down on a board circa 1940 or so judging from the "Brownie Board" age...

A charming work in watercolor with white gouache highlights, 13 1/2" by 10 1/2" (19" by 16" framed), featuring a young woman in the hugely popular Gibson tradition of the early years of the century, viewing her image in a hand-held decorative Art Nouveau mirror as she applies her lipstick. The work is signed at left "L. B. Hill" and dated 1910. Gibson had many imitators of his illustration style, some very talented and some less talented. Watercolor on paper painting, 18" by 12 3/8" (24" by 18" as framed), unsigned, the subject classic red roses, buds and leaves, all in a pleasing vintage gold frame which is in very good condition, with just a little bit of loss at bottom margin. The painting likely dates to the late 19th or early 20th century. It has survived in fine shape, with no foxing nor water stains. If you fancy the Shabby Chic style, this is a natural.
