A finely detailed original etching by Peter Moran, this image measures 7 3/4 x 10 5/8 inches, 1887, state II/III, cat: Wright- 94, with the separate frog remarque lower left, pencil signed, framed. Peter Moran was one of the foremost artists of the American etching revival of the late 19th century. He was known for his images of cows and farm animals, as well as his atmospheric scenes of the American Southwest.

The authorship is not obvious: either Antoine-Khan Sevruguin (1840-1933) a pioneer of photography in the late 19th century Persia or his son André "Darvish" Sevrugian, who studied painting in Paris. Dimension: 12.8 x 23.8 cm (cardboard: 19.6 x 31.5 cm)...

This is a fragment of a larger 18th century European religious painting. The painting is very well painted in oil on wood with a gesso layer and depicts Christ carrying the cross with a thorn crowned head. Dimensions: 36 cm x 14, 5 cm (14 1/8 in x 5 5/8 in). The wood and the painting has been professionally conserved to protect from further deterioration.

This is a beautifully executed poetic drawing by an artist who showed at 19th century salons in Paris. From auction records it appears that studies of shepherds and sheep were a staple of the artist's production. Condition is excellent...
