For some time now, in art-historical expert circles, a painting causes concern. Discovered a good ten years ago in Schwarzach im Pongau ( Province of Salzburg ) it shows a boy at the age of about six years. In spite of partly contrary opinion, everything indicates at the moment that the portrayed child represents Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. This would, as far as is known, be the earliest image of the composer. The Mozart town Salzburg however, is not only happy about it...

There is little biographical information on Simonetti, and it has been suggested that it is a pseudonym for Gian Gianni who was one of the last of the view painters of Italy. Gianni worked mostly in watercolor and produced views of Naples and Venice for people who were making the Grand Tour...

Original burin engraving and etching by Dolf Rieser (British, born in South Africa, 1898-1983). Pulled by Joseph Hecht in Paris in 1938 as #9 in the "Africa" portfolio on Montval paper, signed and numbered "35" by the artist, in an edition of 100. In excellent condition. Offered framed and with the original portfolio cover with an engraving of African masks on brown wove paper.

From the Paris 1937 portfolio which included works by Matisse, Gromaire, Vlaminck, Derain, Dufy, Laurencin, Bonnard, Kisling, Dunoyer de Segonzac, etc. Signed in the plate. Currently framed in a mid-century period frame. Good condition.

This note concerns Poem 70-38, a rarely seen Big Red. NOTE: Daniel Tretiak created the term Big Reds for Haku Maki's large works centered on large kanji in red, usually on a black background and often done in broad strokes. Large ones in blue or yellow or green came to be termed Big Blues, Big Yellows, Big Greens, and so forth.

This luminous sky original regional landscape acrylic painting by a self learned painter in acrylic on canvas, depicting three towering trees with exposed roots growing out of the rocks. Even a colorful birch manages to make it out of an exposed crevice. Using a limited palette of 6 + white, the darkish rocks in a myriad of greens, sienna and purps make a dramatic juxtaposition with the buttery golden sky...
