PAIR of framed Paris scenes on board, one showing Notre Dame and the Seine, the other a street scene with a 1930's car and figures, each signed "Montal" at lower right. I would guess these are tourist pieces in the Montmartre painters tradition, probably dating to the 1950's or so. At 13 1/2" by 7 1/2" framed they are identical in size, and they are framed identically as well, though there is wear to each frame, showing as gold areas against a darker background...

Oil on canvas landscape of country cottages and feathery trees on the banks of a small pond or marsh, 9" by 12" (13" by 21" in its modern frame), signed at lower right "S. Clark", the subject given on the framing label as "On the Arun--Sussex". This is a painting by SAMUEL JOSEPH CLARK (1841-1928), a noted 19th century painter of rural landscapes and genre. Sometimes he is listed as Samuel JAMES Clark--there appears to be some confusion in the auction record...

This impressionistic work is an original hand painted work, not a print or reproduction of any type. There is a signature that appears to read "Liotta" at lower right, rather hard to see. This is a decorative piece that should enhance any traditional interior setting...

A gouache on paper painting of a vase with white flowers, blue on white plates, green bowl with cherries, a decorative leaded window beyond, the work signed at lower right corner with what appears as "Louise Brentnall" and dated there 44 (or, I think less likely, 77). The piece measures 9 1/4" by 7" (12 3/4" by 10 3/4" in simple strip frame). I do not see an artist by this name, if I am reading the name correctly. I thought it might read "Louise Brumback", but that artist died in 1929...

Apparently unsigned watercolor on heavy paper painting of an arid landscape in the American Southwest, including a distant mountain, barbed wire fencing at a dirt crossroads, and fading evening clouds, 14" by 17 1/2" as framed in a faux burl frame. When I first saw the image I was reminded of some of the watercolor art of Peter Hurd---the memorable scenes he painted of New Mexico. There is no evidence that he painted this one, but perhaps the artist was inspired by Hurd's imagery...

This is a large work of art in delicate condition, 26" by 54" and 3" wide frame, so, I am seeking a local (Southern California) buyer who can pick it up. The painting, of a tropical coast with palms, decorative boats, and numerous figures, is well painted in an impressionistic manner, and is signed "M. H. Liu" at lower right in red and dated there 1967. A search of this name has not produced any listings...

Oil on canvas painting, signed at lower left "Charles T. Harris", late 20th century, the subject a red rock dramatic cliff of the Southwest, framed artistically by a large overhanging branch arching in from the right side. The work is very clean and ready to hang. This came from a local estate. The artist is talented but from what I can tell not listed. Size is 20" by 30" plus 2 1/2" wide on a side wood frame.

An American contemporary theorem still life painting in the traditional 19th century familiar style, signed by artist Esther M. Attridge and dated on reverse framing paper 1973. The work measures 10 1/2" by 13 1/2" and about 12 1/2" by 15 1/2" in the gold framing. Some contemporary artists have made names for themselves by copying the old American folk art theorem style. Similar works by one latter-day artist named David Ellinger are highly sought after and are auctioned...

This is a work by highly regarded American artist THOMAS WILLOUGHBY NASON (1889-1971), titled in pencil "Rockport" at lower left and signed at lower right "TWNason (M.W.N.)". This would appear to be a posthumous signature by a relative after the artist's death. This example measures 4 1/4" by 6 1/4" inside the mat and 11 1/4" by 13 1/4" framed. The print appears to be in generally good condition with some scattered foxing, especially in the margin area...

An original watercolor drawing of a familiar California theme: surfers at the beach, with lifeguard tower, palms, and two parked classic late 1940's Woodies vehicles. The work is signed at lower left "Dry......" ("Drysbock", or similar?) and measures 4 1/2" by 6 1/2". It comes matted but with no frame and glass. Likely is a contemporary work. Looks like a print but guaranteed to be original work.

Japanese woodblock print by Katsuyuki Nishijima (b. 1945) depicting a shop front. This is an original, kanji titled, pencil-signed, limited edition print numbered 21/500 in the bottom margin. Late 20th century. Paper size 17" x 12 3/8" (image: 15 7/8" x just under 11 1/4"). Full margins. Excellent condition. There is one small piece of tape at the top back margin edge.

In the style of popular Thomas Kinkade or Marty Bell, this is an original oil on canvas, 11" by 14" (17" by 20" framed), the subject a cozy cottage-like house set in a flowering garden, the welcoming lights all on. The painting is signed at lower left "N LaFond". If you enjoy the Kinkade style but would like an original work instead of a print, you may well like this piece. Condition is excellent, frame has a little wear.

Oil on canvas, 15 1/4" by 18 1/2" (22" by 25" as frame), the subject a copper or ceramic tub filled with red flowers , all against a simple background. The painting is not signed on the front but on the reverse is "Yerda Werkel" and "von Kurtz" and "1.9.46". So we have likely a German, Swiss or Austrian artist who would have painted this soon after the end of the war. I don't see a listing for the artist but she was talented...

Etching of children in a landscape, 8 1/4" by 10 3/4" inside the present mat (the full sheet 14 1/2" by 17"), not signed but printed information on mat provides artist name, a possible title "Hagyateki Anyaga" and possible edition ("5/50"). The artist is ISTVAN SZONYI (1894-1960)...

Traditional watercolor still life of roses, yellow daffodils and maybe some dogwood, arranged in a white vase against a sketchily defined background, 20" by 22 1/2" (27" by 30 3/4" framed), apparently unsigned, though a number "1432" appears at lower right corner under the mat (I do NOT think it says 1932). The paper was laid on a board long ago. I think this dates to the 1940's or so; the hand was trained. Condition is excellent and this is ready for the wall.

A vintage, old, pastel on paper drawing of old steep-roofed houses in a mountain landscape, 10 1/2" by 15 1/2" (14 1/2" by 19" as framed, no glass), signed at lower right corner with initials that appear as "SHC.". The work probably dates to the 1920's or 1930's, judging from the style, and framing materials. The old paper has browned heavily and one can see a ghost image of the drawing on the reverse side. This should be re-framed with non-acidic materials, and room should be left for a prop...
