Large original signed bronze sculpture on wood base by Irma Rothstein (American, born in Russia, 1906-1971). Almost 20" high including base. In excellent original condition. Irma Rothstein was born in Rostoff, Russia, and studied art in Vienna before emigrating to the United States in 1938. She sculpted the busts of celebrities such as George Bernard Shaw, Hermann Broch, Alexandre Gretchaninoff, Ernest Hemingway, etc...

Oil on canvas laid on board painting, circa 1950, titled in artist hand on reverse "The Rail Fence", 13 1/2" by 17" (17 1/2" by 21" framed) signed at lower right by the artist MYRON CHESTER NUTTING (1890-1972). Nutting was born in Nevada. He became known in California for landscape and portrait works. He and his wife spent time painting in Cambria on the scenic Central Coast in 1939 and again from 1953-1955. Apparently he also spent time in Texas...

This is a Pair of WATERCOLORS signed by the ARTIST: R.E. HOLMES. From a Maryland Estate, suburb of Washington, DC. Bio of the Artist: Born in Rosedale, B.C., Canada on March 6, 1917. After graduating from Chouinard Art Institute in 1940, Rosinda Sellers went to work in San Diego in an advertising agency. The following year she married artist Rexford Holmes and moved to San Francisco into Maynard Dixon's old studio (later the Melvin Belli office)...

American still life oil on canvas, not signed on the front, "Waterbury" and "Montrose Gallery" on the reverse, housed in a LABELED authentic Newcomb-Macklin frame bearing what appear to be mostly handwritten framer's sizing numbers. The painting measures 24" by 20" on the stretchers, the frame 28" by 24" (the rabbet 24 1/4" by 20 1/4")...

Oil on board, 14 1/2" by 20 1/2" as framed, unsigned, the subject an extensive hilly landscape with distant structures. I believe the scene is more than likely American. The painting could use a cleaning as there is discolored varnish, causing the colors to appear more brown and less blue/white in the sky. There is some soiling at top mostly and a small 1/8" or less pressure mark at center in the sky. Overall this painting makes for a pleasant and decorative landscape...

Frame is carved wood and gilt; dating from the first half of the 20th C. and in excellent condition. DIMENSIONS: Sight: 23 1/2" wide (59.6 cm) x 18 3/4" high (47.6 cm). In the frame: 29" wide (73.7 cm) x 24 1/2" high (62.2).

Bals-Werthmann" or similar, and dated there 1944. I don't see a listing for that name or variants I have tried. The artist, working during the darkest days of World War II, must have been wanting to try to bring a little brightness to grim times...

The drawing measures 11" by 15", the entire unframed sheet 15" by 19 1/2". Lauritz is considered one of the important plein air painters, a number of works having exceeded $25,000 at auction...

Watercolor on paper, unframed, 9" by 11 3/4", signed at lower right in pencil, and signed again and apparently titled on the reverse, by the noted, long-lived American artist, THERESA FERBER BERNSTEIN (1890-2002). The watercolor likely dates to about the middle years of the 20th century, I would guess. Writing on the reverse seems to say "Israel/Yarkon River". In upper corner in different hand is "Yarkon, B./Israel"...

Ross Shattuck painting on art board of 2 cloaked figures walking up a hilly desert street, with original frame some minor scuffs. Size sight 15" by 19" and a 3" wide frame 25" by 21" Shattuck studied at the Chicago Academy of Fine Art and the PAFA. He moved from New York to Laguna Beach about 1929. During the 1930s he was an art director for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and an instructor at the Chouinard Art School in Los Angeles. His paintings include nudes and interiors. Sahula-Dycke has written something above his signature that I can not read, below his signature is lightly written "Phoenix 1940 Arizona".
