The work measures 23 2/3" by 35" and the pleasing wood frame is 2 3/8" on a side. Lester George Hornby 1882-1956 American This is an original color aquatint etching by American artist Lester George Hornby. The title is "Le Fete a Pantin", it was created and printed in 1911 in an edition of 25. The image measures 9 3/4X14 5/8 inches. This etching is hand signed in pencil lower right and printed on a medium weight laid type paper.

A PAIR of ink on wove paper drawings apparently by the same anonymous talented artist, one work featuring a southern American-looking old historic style home, the other a fountain in a southern European street scene (probably Italy). I opened the items and determined that there is no signature of any kind, nor any other indication of authorship. The home scene has pencil sketching on the reverse, possibly a very sketchy, preliminary architectural plan drawing...

Watercolor on paper landscape, 10 1/2" by 7" inside the early-style gold mat, 18 1/2" by 14 1/2" as framed, signed in blue at lower right "J.A. HANCOX". No listings were found for this artist, but the work appears certainly to be of English origin. There is fairly heavy foxing especially at top in the sky, and a small bar of lighter paper there. It appears that the artist signed in lower right corner and then tried to rub it out there before re-signing it two inches higher up.

A portrait painting of an older gentleman seen in profile, oil on canvas laid to a board, signed at lower right with conjoined initials that could possibly be "FD". Measurements are approximately 12 1/4" by 10 1/4" (31 cm. by 26 cm). Including the likely original black frame the size is 18" by 16". On the board is stamped "G. Gerolsky/Buchbinderei u. Papierhandlung/CHODAU...

Oil on canvas laid on canvasboard at a later date, (13" by 16 1/4" as framed), signed boldly at lower right in Greek "PIPIS XARALAMBIS" and dated there 1914. The artist does not appear to be well known but the painting is nicely executed, with an excellent luminosity. In my experience, vintage and antique Greek paintings are quite scarce. The tall cypress trees at left balance the distant temple ruins at right. More research might reveal more on the artist...
