Watercolor on heavy paper of trees leaning over a lake, a swooping bird and small boat with primitive figures in the right lower portion, 12" by 21 1/2", signed at lower left "J. H. Dore" or "T. H. Dore". This is a late 19th century work with a primitive and folky touch. The green mat is too wide. Reframe this charming work with a smaller mat for optimum presentation.

Chinese brush painting by Nie Ou. A well known female artist in China, she was born in 1948. She graduated from the Central Art Academy School in Beijing and has received several awards. Her work is shown worldwide. This is one of seven pictures we have. It is mounted on silk brocade. The entire area is 19 inches by 29 inches; the picture size is 13 inches by 18 inches.

An elegantly understated print of flowers appearing to be carnations, and dahlias, the imagery generally appearing as monochromatic and grayish, with some light green and yellow color, signed in pencil at lower right corner and numbered 139/150 at lower left, by the noted American contemporary artist ROBERT KIPNISS (1931-). A painting on board, unsigned, subject one of the 21 California missions, the size 9 1/4" by 12" (12 1/2" by 15 1/2" as framed). The piece has some age but is not extremely old by any means. Gold frame adds to the appeal. For your Southwestern interior.

Tavik Frantisek Simon, Czechoslovakian, 1877-1942, "Boulevard Saint Martin in Winter". A wintry day on a busy tree-lined street in Paris is the subject of this color aquatint etching by T. F. Simon. Published in 1914 in an edition of 200 it measures 12 1/4 x 14 1/2 inches. Pencil signed on the l.r. with a watermark on the l.l.

Plate signed etching, 13" by 10 1/4" inside the mat, the sheet 16" by 13 3/4", titled "Rue de la Glaciere", 1937, by the famous and important French modern artist MAURICE de VLAMINCK (1876-1958). The original edition is given as 400 or 500 examples; later restrikes might exist. I do not know if this might be one of them. The paper is very thin and delicate and appears ribbed as would laid style paper. I do not see any watermarks...

A Beautiful oil on tin, measuring 14 x 10“ of the Madonna and Child,Mexico. Eighteenth Century.

Oil on masonite, 18" by 24", (23" by 29" as framed), the subject a copper kettle on a small wooden stand on a table, with a cup and saucer, small blue milk pitcher and poinsettia in a decorative blue vase filling out the scene. The painting is signed at lower right "L. Johnson". I do not seem to be able to connect this to any listed artist so am offering it as a decorative work. It was found in San Diego, and the poinsettia suggests a California origin...

Original etching by Jacques Callot LE MASSACRE DES INNOCENTS printed in 1622 in Nancy. Lieure catalog number 427, second state of two, good size margins, excellent impression of this important print. Small crown watermark on the paper, slight darkening in the corners where the print was mounted, overall in excellent condition. Plate size 134x110mm, paper size 157x127mm.

From our Southeast Asia Collection, a very fine and intricate Indonesian original painting by N. Mandra of Ubud (Bali), depicting an offering scene executed in subdued earth tones. The painting is acrylic on canvas and is very well done.

A charming, whimsical, beautifully painted oil on canvas painting of a brown-robed man of the church in a spring forest setting minding a pig, while a vision of loveliness, a nude young female, appears at right. The work is unsigned but most certainly would have been painted by a listed artist, I would think around the year 1910. The piece is unframed and measures 21 1/2" by 18"...

PAIR of etchings of dogs, one a Fox Terrier, the other a Scottish Terrier, each signed at lower right in pencil by the renowned twentieth century German dog and cat and other animal artist, KURT MEYER-EBERHARDT (1895-1977). The artist was born in Leipzig and died in Munich. In the late 1920's he was studying with Thedor Hagen and Lyonel Feininger, and could have ascended to the highest levels of the art world. He however chose to pursue his love of depicting domestic and other animals...

A fine landscape drawing in pastel by a skilled hand, Swiss-born artist MAXIM (MAXIMILIAN) SEIBOLD. The drawing measures 9 1/4" by 12 1/2" (13 1/4" by 16 1/2" in attractive probably original old gold framing---very light wear). Seibold was a competent and talented artist, very active around the year 1920, who seems to have left behind little biographical information. Born in Switzerland, he evidently came to America at least by the 'teens, as drawings of Florida and elsewhere are known...
