An original drawing of early twentieth century biplane and car, 9" by 12" (17 1/2" by 20 1/2" framed), signed at lower right "Lantz". The work is most likely for an advertisement, for publication. The unusual name makes it tempting to link this to the famed Woody Woodpecker artist Walter Lantz (1899-1994)---and it was found in Southern California, where he worked at the Hollywood studios----but the signature is dissimilar and the work is not the cartoon art for which he is so well known...

The focus of the print is a man playing a violin while a standing man with drink in hand addresses him, perhaps singing, as is a seated man. Another man, behind the musician, reads and possibly sings from what looks like a broadside...

The work is executed in charcoal with a little white gouache, on paper, the unframed sheet 12" by 10", signed at lower right in the artist's typical manner. Gladys Emerson Cook (1899-1976) was known for her sensitive and accurate depictions of dogs, cats and other animals. She was a painter, illustrator, and graphic artist. Today a number of museums include her works. She exhibited at the National Academy of Design and other major venues...

This is a most attractive watercolor on paper painting of a landscape with feathery trees bordering a foreground area, and a wider view beyond, 11 1/2 by 14 1/2" in modern inexpensive protective-only framing, unsigned. Found in New England, it reminds of California eucalyptus school work. The artist would likely be someone listed. The age could be circa 1920's to 1950. The work sorely needs a proper mat and framing...

Watercolor on paper, unsigned, 14" by 18" (19" by 23 1/2" as framed/matted), American, dating likely from the late thirties to the mid fifties. The work is obviously by a talented artist, considering the way in which the flowering trellis vine has been depicted. There is a Somerville, New Jersey label on reverse from the framing outfit, from 1959, naming an Earl Potter from Potterville, NJ, but I don't believe this is the artist's name...

Interesting gouache abstract painting in subtle grays and blues, signed on the reverse side of the Crescent art board "Jeannine Isaacs". The piece, measuring 9 3/4" square inside the mat opening, comes in an aluminum frame without glass. I do not see a recognized, listed artist by this name. The art probably dates to the 1970's I would suggest. Condition is excellent.

A work of fine calligraphy that stands on its own as a work of art, the drawing in watercolor, and gouache/tempera, with a reflective gold paint applied in small diamond shapes, by Southern California contemporary calligrapher artist CAROL HICKS. The work measures 8" by 11" (12 3/4" by 15 3/4" in gold frame). Close examination reveals a wonder of lettering, and even a pattern of finger-like branching three dimensional paint. Hicks stamped the backing with her West Hills, California address...

The work measures 14" by 20" inside the present mat and 25" by 31" as framed in simple light wood, (no glass). The painting is in excellent condition despite the lack of glass. Mats are soiled and should be replaced. A well executed work squarely in the "California Style" of watercolor painting.

The painting is very decorative and attractive in its gold frame.
