The painting is signed at lower left "Conti"; it is possible it is a work of the listed artist Tito Conti (1842-1924) but I cannot say for certain that he was the artist. By the Liege, Belgium-born artist ARMAND HENRION (1875-1958), a fine color etching in oval shape, of two clowns in full makeup, pencil signed and numbered 19/500. The artist is known today for his wonderfully expressive depictions of the clown, as well as mime reactions. Most of the works are actually self portraits. The depictions in these portraits reveals an affinity for humanity rarely captured in portraiture...

Etching on paper, the sheet 6 3/4" by 9", 12 1/4" by 14 1/2" framed, the subject a group of children floating playfully on a makeshift raft, pencil signed at lower right by noted English artist and illustrator, author and poet EILEEN SOPER (1905-1990). The work is titled, I believe, "Voyage of Discovery". Eileen was the daughter of artist George Soper. By 1920 she had submitted work to the Print Makers of California, and it was chosen for exhibition...

A PAIR of old engravings from the Passion of Christ series of 14, engraved originally in 1521 by Dutch old master engraver LUCAS VAN LEYDEN (1494-1533). My research leads me to believe these two are apparently later impressions printed on wove rather than laid paper, by noted Flemish engraver Jan Harmansz Muller (1571-1628).
