A superb 19th Century Terracotta HEAD OF FAUN signed by famed artist CLAUDE MICHEL CLODION, (1793-1814), France. Size: 14.5 x 10.5 x 7 cm.

Nothing less than superb would describe the quality of this c1835 American portrait miniature. The artist, as yet to be identified, even went so far as to show the shadow cast on the cheeks of the sitter by the lower rims of the glasses. The sight size is 2 7/8" by 2", with the size of the modern black painted wood frame being 5 1/2" by 5".

This antique miniature portrait from the 18th century features the Duchess Maria Amalia of Parma, née Archduchess of Austria. The portrait is delicately hand-painted on the mother of pearl and placed behind convex glass. It is mounted in an oval gold gilt frame with a scalloped rim. Oil on canvas laid against panel, 10 1/2" by 13 1/2" (14" by 17" framed), signed at lower right by mid-century artist A. R. NOULIN. The beautifully painted little work reminds of Maurice Utrillo's 1920's paintings of the famed quarter around Sacre Coeur's white church. Watercolor en grisaille drawing of the ornate entry area of a 19th century American home, complete with trellis, shutters, clapboard and fine woodwork, unsigned, measuring 18" by 14" (20 1/2" by 16 7/8" framed in brown wood frame. A beautiful watercolor by the American artist Richard Sched, known for his watercolors and rich oil. Mr. Sched, a native of Boston, who studied art at Boston College, was a member of the New York Painters Society. He taught art at Boston College and exhibited there. On his frequent trips abroad he would paint people he met. He painted Pope Jean Paul II as well as other dignitaries. measuring 12” x 9” on Arches paper.
