Yes, this sculptural set was forged and Made in USA. There are some who frame these sculptural hand hammered pieces in a shadow box to hang on their walls. From an American studio one finds this hand fabricated hammered copper kinetic sculptural necklace, pendant and earring set with sterling silver accents, which when not worn can be displayed on a wall.
Hand hammered by this art metalwork smith and stamped with maker’s mark of: Handmade - Mimi Dee...
Watercolor on paper painting of a mid nineteenth century American house, 9 1/2" by 6 1/2" (17" by 13" framed), signed at lower right "Barney Moore" and dated there 1941. I do not see information on the artist but he was obviously talented. The house is of an architectural style that would have been common in the 1860's or 1870's, in many American neighborhoods east of the MIssissippi. Condition is excellent. Someone wrote "Moore 1946" on the reverse paper.
An accomplished watercolor of a spooky old Victorian house on a city block, signed at lower left by artist JOHN W. ATTERBURY and dated there 1944. The work measures 14" by 20" (24" by 29 1/2" in old stained oak wood frame). Titled in pencil "Yellow Windows" at lower center, the artist has created a work with very American qualities, and reminiscent of Edward Hopper's strangely empty and lonely structures, or perhaps those of Charles Burchfield...
A delightful c1908 miniature painted by Mildred E. Walker (listed in Who's Who of American Art as having worked in New York.) The young child has a mass of red hair, brown eyes, and is dressed in a blue blouse. The reverse of the gilt metal case identifies the sitter as "Spiky/Aged 3 years/October 1908." Artist signed along the left edge "Mildred E. Walker 1908."
The case size is 3" by 2 3/8"...
A lovely highly impressionist oil on board painting of coffee pots and creamers on a table, apparently unsigned, and of vintage age, possibly 1930's or 1940's I believe. The work measures 14 1/2" by 15 1/4" (18" by 18 1/2" framed). On the reverse of the old board is written in old hand in pencil what appears as "Robert Swasey/327 Spring St./Portland Maine". I have looked for the name Robert Swasey in standard art search sites and have not located a known recognized painter by this name...
Watercolor painting of a dramatic western American mountain, unframed, executed on a 12" by 17 1/2" sheet of watercolor paper, unsigned. The mountain resembles the pyramidal Going to the Sun Mountain in Montana's Glacier National Park, but I suppose this could be elsewhere in the great American west. Condition is excellent; the work needs only framing.
Gouache on paper painting of a priest sitting quietly on a terrace overlooking the dramatic Mediterranean coastline, 10" by 5 1/2" as framed, apparently unsigned, but almost certainly by a member of the well-known Gianni family of painters. The work is clean and in excellent condition; old frame has a 2" loss at bottom right. There are a number of painters going under the name "Gianni". Many works of such southern Italian scenes are signed M. Gianni, others Y. Gianni...
An example of the 1913 lithograph "La Mere Chatte" ("The Mother Cat"), 11 3/4" by 9 1/4" inside the mat window, (18 3/4" by 15 1/4"as framed) pencil signed in lower right margin by the important French artist THEOPHILE-ALEXANDRE STEINLEN (1859-1913). Printed in a rich chocolate brown ink, the image appears at first to be of one cat, until one looks more closely, to see an adorable tiny young face emerging behind her in the shadows...
Drawing on paper, 6 1/2" by 9 1/4" the scene only, 9 1/2" by 12 1/2" as framed, signed at lower right, followed by "fec. 1818" (abbreviation of the Latin word "fecit", meaning "executed", in that year). Try as I might, I cannot make out the name. I've tried Pfohl, Pfahl, Pigott, and so on. In any event, here's a drawing that has survived in excellent condition after nearly 200 years...
Hermine David, French, 1886-1971, "La Corrida". A great image of a Spanish bull fight, this etching with drypoint measures 10 1/8 x 11 1/2 inches, published in 1929 in an edition of 100, pencil signed and numbered. Hermine David was born and raised in Paris and at the age of 16 was accepted into the Ecole Des Beaux Arts, later going on the study at the Academy Julien...
A photographic print, apparently printed in Italy, featuring Harry Jackson's important sculpture of John Wayne on a horse, autographed and then dedicated "For my good friend Mert/All the best to you/Your friend/Harry/June 10, 1991/Cody Wyoming". HARRY JACKSON (1924-2011) was a western American artist for many decades, best known for his sculptures, some large or life-size, featuring cowboys, horses and indians...
Japanese Woodblock by Tomio Kinoshita, "Red" 1971, 21/150. Large abstract square head over a square body with hands done in a curved space...
Robert Fowler, British, 1853-1926.
Oil on Canvas, signed 16"W by 22"H.
This is a difficult to describe painting----we see a beach on a summer's day, the blue sea beyond; budding clouds, a spiky yucca at left, and what look at first like children's sandbox toys in the sand, until it appears that maybe they're not children's sandbox toys. The "tower" at right looks more like a Greek islands windmill, the "sail" a takeoff from the yucca. There's also a starfish, a bucket, a brightly colored striped beach ball--and a difficult to make out signature...
Anne Lane studied art at George Mason University in Virginia, completed her education at Saint Patrick’s college, Ireland, where she studied theology and philosophy. The tonal and contemplated intensity of her paintings reflect her 10 years spent working as an artist under the desert sun of New Mexico. Her vibrant style, resonant with color and baroque in detail, swoons its delight over her canvases. The subjects and themes of her art, reflect her fascination with people, particularly the phycho...
Gouache on paper landscape drawing, 14" by 21" (27" by 33 1/2" framed), signed somewhat illegibly in the lower right corner in pencil and dated there "43", the subject a small village on the shore of a lake or ocean. The scene, including small white church steeple, reminds me vaguely of the quaint coastal tourist town of Mendocino north of San Francisco. There is no hint as to where the subject is, so, we will just have to guess. The signature might be "Pien" or "Pian" or similar. I've opened...
Hand Colored Etching “Dickens Christmas Carol” 5x8” framed size 12x16” done circa 1940
A decorative oil on canvas painting of a winter forest and pond scene, executed in predominantly blues, browns and white, the generous and liberal amount of paint quite vigorously and impressionistically moved around by the artist, JULIAN RHINEHARDT (1915-), who signed at lower right. The 24" by 20" work (34 1/2" by 30 1/2"as framed) is in excellent condition. Painting probably dates to the 1970's or early 1980's. Rhinehardt's biographical information seems to be elusive. Some retail art gal...
